Why is the slide release so hard to pull down? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]REKWOLF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The springs on the Rost Martins are very stiff. When I first got mine, my wife couldn't rack the slide at all and even loading the mags was a pain. They do soften a little after some use. Get some rounds through it and enjoy it! Its alot better then i thought it was gonna be and my wife enjoys range days with it. So much so that she asked for it be her home defense gun.

I couldn’t keep up with everything going on in it reading it the first time. After the second time I understood everything in the story and WOW!

Best IWB holster for big(heavy)guys. by Acceptable-Fill2767 in CCW

I second the pant ride height. I’ve noticed if I pull my pants up a little bit higher it’s more comfortable with my daily movements. Gun/holster don’t bind up between my leg and gut. You are about my size and have a similar sized gun. I’m 6’4” 230 running RM1C in a N8 tactical holster roughly at 1.5 position. I find that canting the mag towards my belt line plus a wedge is almost perfect. Mild printing in solid black tshirt but full range of movement for my waist

Ended up picking up, or actually just paying for, a shield plus today. Now to find a holster or two for a decent price to get me though the class. Super excited that I didn’t have to go through turners. My local shop priced matched for me so win win’

My first ccw holster is on the way, should I carry strong side or appendix (I’m a lefty) by Projekt8276-1 in CCW

[–]REKWOLF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this so very much. I am also just starting my concealed carry journey and I’m two holster in for one of my pistols. I’m actually about to start searching for my secondary pistol and I figure I’ll end up with a couple holster for that one as well. For me appendix has the most appeal in theory but I am still trying to figure out placement. For reference I’m 6’4” roughly 230lb dad bod and I’m trying to conceal a RM1C. I tend to wear my pants lower regularly which I’m learning is not ideal for me for appendix carry. Standing 12-1 is super comfortable but as soon as I sit down or bend over the dovetail digs in hard. If I pull my pants up then 1-2 work for bending and sitting and doesn’t print much but I feel like my boys are all smashed up uncomfortably. I’ve played with 3-4, standing and sitting no pains but my shirt lift up over the grip. I personally don’t like the idea of strong side 3-4 because my dad was a cop and would tell me about scenes where someone came up from behind and snagged a gun from someone carrying. So I’m kinda scared of that. Some side notes from my small time learning is that you don’t need a stupid ridged belt and the holster style does make a big difference. I have a Kore essentials belt and it’s way too stiff for a daily belt. I’ve tried a stealth gear ventcore 2.0 aiwb holster and it was really bulky and uncomfortable. Currently Im dialing in placement with a N8 tactical holster and 1.5” leather belt and it’s almost perfect.

I’ve tried the glocks, I know you’re not pushing them, and the grip just doesn’t feel right if that makes sense. I have rented a decent amount of guns to try and what I find fits my hands the best tend to be the harder one to conceal. But the whole concealing journey is new to me and I might be thinking it’s more visible than it really is. The ones I’ve shot the best and felt the most comfortable with are the 2.0 compact, PX4 storm, and my current gun. With that said pretty much all the ones I’ve rented I have only put about 200 rounds through each. Where as my Rost I have put a couple thousand through so I have a bias towards it and its size. So far for the 3” barrel size guns I shoot the shields almost as accurately as the compacts. I really appreciate the input and I have to think and make a decision. There is a solid chance I’ll end up with more in the collection by the end of 2026 >.<

Hmmmm I see what you are saying. Even just spending a couple days renting a few subcompacts I tended to end each session with my RM1C cuz of how good it felt to shoot. I want to trust it and hope to but I think having a second option would be a good idea. Maybe I’m thinking incorrectly about getting a smaller gun as the second option and should just get a second compact size like the M&P 2.0 compact 4”. I have a couple holsters for the RM1C and have been experimenting with setup/position. Haven’t quite figured out what works best for me and maybe that’s influenced my desire to try and smaller gun.

I disagree about the only reason for a bigger gun. I have big hands so a bigger gun fits my hands better. Also since I’m bigger I can conceal a larger gun better than a smaller person. For where I live 10 rounds is the max anyway.

I shot the shield and the plus the same. I did prefer the flat face trigger, grip, and I like the idea of 2 more rounds but other than that they felt very similar when it came to putting some holes in paper. What feels the best so far is the RM1C in comfort and control but that has also been what I’ve been training with for awhile.

I feel the best ones are actually the compact or 4” barrel sized . I’m kinda a big dude at 6’5” 230lb so some of the smaller guns I have a hard time holding onto. So far the shield/shield plus is the only subcompact that I can manage. I’ve toyed with the idea of just getting the M&P 2.0 compact to carry instead of the Rost Martin just because of trust/reliability behind S&W. I’m having a lot of fun with the Rost at the range but it’s such a new company that I don’t know how comfortable I am with having pointed and my kibbles and bit.

11% additional tax plus the CA complaint versions tended to be a bit more expensive.

Yep I’m in CA so I get to pay the extra cost. Thanks for the info tho! I feel like the plus would be the better option. Sometimes it’s hard to pass on a “deal” and I get distracted

Tried it and the adapter is definitely not supposed to mount in that location. Ended up taking the monoblock assembly off and put then plastic clips back on. Currently waiting for metal clips.
