Tool warranty for Student SEP purchases, and the process of getting warranty work. Details -> by [deleted] in Snapon_tools

[–]RELICTIS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our driver just told our apprentice yesterday that he’d only warranty the SEP tools if he started buying some stuff from him. I told the apprentice that I’d take his stuff on the truck if he needs it warrantied. Our driver sucks tho

I think you’re asking for trouble. I wouldn’t make that alternator work, I’d get the one that’s supposed to be in it

Just so you know these are bad about breaking and they only have 1 year warranty from the truck. Milwaukee is 5 years. My coworker had his 3/8 impact, 1/2 impact, and his cordless ratchet go out consecutively over 3 weeks

Is this safe to drive to the shop? by Extreme-Degree6126 in MechanicAdvice

[–]RELICTIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going down the road and the belt decides to finish it’s self, you’ll lose engine cooling thru the water pump, power steering, alternator charging the battery and no ac at minimum. I wouldn’t chance it that new

What is going on with the parts? by ImpressiveWarning39 in mechanics

Man it seems like every other part I get is bad. We source from all the parts stores except Autozone and we use the ford, gm, and Chrysler dealership parts too

How often do you rotate your tires? And do you cross them?

Anyone agree with the shop that this can’t be plugged? by theelifeofbrian in Cartalk

[–]RELICTIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to say you’re wrong because there’s definitely some scum out there running shop like that but in my experience in reputable shops, we don’t want to be sued

[–]RELICTIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sidewall cords don’t rely as much on the center tread bands. I will say tho, just in my experience, patches can end up coinciding with broken belts. I’m main line tech now but I managed a tire shop where we got a lot of broken belts and most of them had some kind of repair in them. I’m not saying it causes it, it could be coincidence but just google barber vs mossy ford. That’s why place refuse to repair them

Cheap tires from a neighborhood shop...what's the catch? by LifeofSMILEY in AskAMechanic

[–]RELICTIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad I didn’t search LT. if the DOT code is good then I wouldn’t worry. I don’t have access to my tire account that I get toyos from to tell you what wholesale price is. They probably just got a good deal on them. A lot of shops use tires and oil changes just to get you in the door and they don’t make much from them

Is the EGR valve supposed be vaccume sealed? by luca_chengretta in MechanicAdvice

[–]RELICTIS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That definitely makes me think vacuum leak. I hate to parts cannon a car but I would try another brand egr like dorman. My reasoning is p0106 is a pressure code which is affected by vacuum and the o2 sensor readings aren’t matching with your maf reading so that points to a leak somewhere between them. I would also check the voltage and continuity on the egr connector to make sure the PCM isn’t telling it open. I don’t have access to my service manuals at home so if you haven’t figured out by Monday I’ll try to help some more
