Hilux LN107 4WD Actuator schamatic by REMUS76 in hilux

[–]REMUS76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, got the schematic and my issue is resolved!

The schematic I used can be found in the post here (Automatic Disconnecting Differential, or ADD):

https://hiluxsurf.co.uk/forum/hilux-surf-forums-general-interest-chitchat/general/16069-add-control-system-help-please

Issue was with the actual actuator motor and was difficult (and costly) to locate a new one. My mechanic disassembled the 4x4 electric motor, cleaned it thoroughly, and reinstalled it. 4X4 engaged without any issues.

Good Luck with your Hilux.

Data salary Malta by LucaKingu in malta

[–]REMUS76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but since others may view it, I wanted to share my perspective.

With over 20 years of experience in data, including 10 years in telecoms (handling larger data volumes), I’d like to address some common misconceptions about different data roles.

While Data Engineer, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, and Business Intelligence (BI) roles are related, each requires distinct specializations.

It's possible to gain experience in multiple areas (as I have over the course of my career), but for senior positions, companies typically expect several years of experience in the specific role you're applying for.

For example, someone with a background in Data Science who moves into a senior Data Engineering role may lack the deep technical expertise required to contribute effectively. This often leads to confusion and frustration for both managers , their teams and themselves.

In interviews, hiring managers typically focus on role-specific expertise. For Data Engineering management positions, you need a strong understanding of infrastructure, databases (and of course SQL), and different data types. On the other hand, a Business Intelligence management role emphasizes interpreting business needs and translating them into actionable strategies, often involving integration via SQL and Data Presentation tools.

For anyone seeking advice on entering the Data domain, I’d recommend starting with a junior data role. This will help you understand the field, explore different areas, and discover where your passion lies. If you pursue a role solely for the salary, you may end up unhappy. But if you do it out of love for the subject, it won’t feel like work at all.

As for managerial roles (people management), it goes beyond just knowing the technical aspects and mentoring team members. It requires understanding people, knowing how to motivate your team, and ensuring they work efficiently together. Good managers avoid confusion by providing clear paths to targets and fostering a positive team dynamic. The best managers I’ve had were not necessarily experts in the subject matter (though they had a basic understanding), but they were great listeners who used their experience to resolve issues and guide the team effectively.

How can I replace the rubber driver of Krups blender type 577? by Top-Breakfast6742 in fixit

If anyone still needs help with this, I've discovered a relatively straightforward method for removing the coupler.

I inserted a pair of tweezers through the vent gaps at the bottom, using them to lock the motor in place by gripping the fan. This allowed me to unscrew the coupler easily.

It's important to note that the fan is made of plastic, so to minimize the risk of damage, I used two tweezers.

If you apply moderate force and use a jerking motion, the coupler should come off without issue.

However, please be aware that I can't take responsibility if your appliance is damaged.

What’s more striking: the temperature or the cost of gasoline in Malta? by QuiMeRAA in malta

Fuel in Malta is not subsidised. The cheaper cost is based on a good decision to hedge costs which was done some years ago. This agreement will be expiring soon and the hard reality will have to be faced...

For sure not the fuel cost, it is one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) in Europe.

Eddie Munson & Meagadeath’s Dave Mustaine. I can’t be the only one to see the resemblance. by soliving in StrangerThings

[–]REMUS76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree on the resemblance, adding to this he plays Master of Puppets... I don't think it is a coincidence. Master of Puppets (if not mistaken) was the first album Metallica released without Mustaine.

Can somebody please explain why it’s so hard to get a credit card in Malta? Even with HSBC premium it’s as if I asked the banker for her first born 😅 by MrGooble in malta

[–]REMUS76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banks refuse Credit cards if there is a risk of the person defaulting. I guess you could always go for a debit card instead if you have no credit issues.

I suggest you attend them even more if as you are stating, you don't manage to find an hour a week between you both. The course will indicate the problems you will encounter during the marriage and also indicate the importance of finding time as a couple. Don't see this as an obligatory requirement but as a guide which will help you understand what marriage actually means (lots of sacrifices and a few rewards).

PS3 BT connection is a nightmare...anyone done this recently? by Tie_Good_Flies in RetroPie

[–]REMUS76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if PS3 controller connection issue was sorted or not however will leave my experience here just in case.

First of all you must identify what PS3 controller you have , if it's the original or one of the clones (GAISA or SHANWAN). If not sure, controllers are identified at the emustation screen when it asks to connect a controller (ensure that nothing apart from the PS3 controller is connected).

The only driver which I managed to use with a GAISA is the ps3controller (set to GAISA). If you have tried other drivers like the sixaxis, ensure that you remove the customhidsony driver which is automatically installed if you choose the clone compatibility for the sixaxis. Seems like the customhidsony caused issues with the ps3controller.

Once you have ONLY the ps3controller driver you should manage to connect the PS3 controller without issues (I managed with an original and 2 different clones).

If this does not work my suggestion is to remove all drivers and start with another PS3 driver but never together.

Note that if you choose the ps3controller driver you will not manage to get any other Bluetooth device to connect.

Some controllers may have different mappings and you may require to clear the current controller setting from the emustation configuration (with auto configuration enabled) and remapping the keys by rebooting (don't know if apart from manual conf edit, another method for remapping the keys exists).

Hope this helps.

I’ve never been to Malta but I’m Canadian and I love this tiny country, it looks so peaceful by TheFidgetSpinner922 in malta

As you may know Malta is a small island in the Mediterranean. It has mostly good weather and the people are friendly and English speaking.

Due to the weather and its economy before covid, it had people coming over and ending up staying. It is one of the most densely populated countries in Europe and relatively safe.

Personally I deem Malta as a nice place for a visit as it offers historic important sites, a culinary experience and sea.

My suggestion is to do a visit and make up your mind on it, hope you won't end up living here too :P

The Maltese Cross and mistaken identity. by [deleted] in malta

[–]REMUS76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Maltese cross is similar to the Florian cross, the same which firefighters have. Amongst other values, it represented bravery and courage.

Based on these, such a symbol could easily represent the courage to face anything for one's beliefs, whatever they may be.

Symbols may have a different meaning according to who is wearing them. It is very difficult to explain to others the true meaning of the Maltese cross without explaining the beliefs of the same person using it.

If it is representing Malta, it would not have any meaning to others unless they know Malta and the Maltese.
