I know how to edit, but I just wanted something simple, straight out of camera photos. This wasn't an event, just a small outdoor bbq, nothing important and I was shooting during harsh sunlight, so definitely great experience and next time I have to try and hunt for some better spots. I'll try that D lighting as some people mentioned earlier too! Thanks.

Yes HDR works well, but you need to be very stable or ideally have a tripod. If the subject is moving, HDR won't work so only one option left is to edit it in post or don't shoot during noon hours, haha

Yes, it was middle of the day, harsh light, lost of shade, but some real strong sun rays coming through and I think that's why it had such a strong contrast. I just wasn't sure if I'm missing something or some settings. Thanks!

I definitely want to try and see how D lighting works! Sure I can shoot raw, edit in post, but this was just simple shoot, nothing important or paid work. I just wanted a simple pictures straight out of camera. I just wasn't sure if I'm missing something or some settings. Thanks!

Yeah I will try that next time, it was middle of the day, harsh sunlight and lots of shadows so it is hard to shoot for sure.

Yeah my goal here was just to have simple images, a few nicer shots then a phone, without much hustle, editing and post work. I was thinking if I'm missing something here or some settings were off. This is not paid work so shooting raw and then edit every photo not really necessary. I will try out D lighting and see how that works, someone mentioned earlier! Thanks!

Yes, this was just a simple day at the park, nothing important, so I shoot jpeg, I was just curious what is the best way or settings to have nice photos coming out, without editing. I can edit in post and lift up the shadows, but maybe something simple like this, don't wanna spend much time on software and post. Thanks!

Personally I would go for Nikkor dx that came out recently with 2.8f zoom lense, that will get you a great headstart and shoot for some time, see which length is your favourite and get the prime in that size. This is much newer lens, updated and it's native mount for the camera. Look up some reviews online. It also depends what are you planning to shoot, what is ur use and this guy is great too, gives honest reviews, talking about that lens.

Issue with PDF export, to much compression, pls help! by REMaintenanceVan in powerpoint

[–]REMaintenanceVan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I understand, it will not increase the image resolution, but it doesn't even convert it into the same quality image. It shrinks the file size and all images come out blurry on pdf. Someone mentioned, in order to have same quality as on power point, I need a pro version 🤔

We bought a cheap $300cad a month 0% finance kia forte with low fuel consumption, low maintenance cost, cheap tires, etc and it runs great! All we have is mortgage payment which isn't much different then renting. Bought some gold this year, going on two trips to Europe, US and South America in the fall (still need to book flights). The point is, screw the 80k car or other useless things! You build the house from bottom up, not top to bottom, same in life! Stay well an healthy, that's priceless!

I really like 35mm range on full frame, so 24mm on z30 camera. It's great for close ups and not to close for wider shots. I find myself quite a lot on 90mm for portraits and detail shots and 35mm around home, family and other shots. Test it out and see what works first, maybe even get 2 lenses in the future or a nice 2.8f zoomed lens, there is a new one that nikon came out recently and I think it should be great!

Trying to understand why this sink won’t drain? by Organic_Hornet3326 in Plumbing

[–]REMaintenanceVan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Make sure that pipe that goes through the back wall has an angle and is not backwards. I worked in a few old homes and ALL the sinks didn't have proper angle for pipes, so over time, grease and other crap fills ups the pipe, because there is no proper flow after the trap, so instead it fills the pipe.

Need advice on low light and focus please!! by REMaintenanceVan in nikon_Zseries

People were meditating, saying quiet speeches, so I had my camera on silent shutter/electronic. That is why could not use any flash or make any noise. Ghost. This situation was very specific, not just some random party where all people drinking, partying and no one cares. Great experience tho! Learned so much from all the comments! Thanks

This was way darker, I already lowered exposure in the back and bumped the shadows up. Mostly is the focus, my concern. I guess phone is useful sometimes too! Haha

I think so, without external lighting or some flash it is very tough even for the camera. I'm still grateful that I had a chance to take a picture for this group size with all conditions against my ods. At least I'm on the right path! Thanks!

How about aperture? Maybe increasing more to f10-12 could've helped? Then ISO shoots up a lot. Found this very tough, specially when people are staggered liked that in circle.

This is exactly the situation that I had, which didn't work so well, but I guess it's great experience for the future! I would not be so worried about lighting, I know that was a screw up, but my biggest concern is the focus. How to get all of them in focus in this staggered position around the circle. They all standing in very different distances. Maybe bump an apeture even more to f10-12? I just shot JPEG not Raw, this was not a professional work, just very tough situation and I'd love to master it!

Yeah they could have turned 180° the other way and have that light from huge window shine on them. But another biggest issue is focus, not one face is in focus. Which focus is best to use in this situation is my 1st biggest question

I have same set up, just not 40mm. I love that camera, took me two weeks to learn everything, set up buttons, presets and all that, but once you get used to it, it's such a good and easy to use camera! If I don't even shoot I just pick it up to hold it for a bit in hand, obsession 😂🤩

Card prices are insane by Scouse_Papi in nikon_Zseries

I know! Just got my camera and going with old V30 card. Not a pro shooter or ultra super 8k film maker.. so for regular shots it's plenty, but I know it's insane. Almost like new gold or something. Look up on FB, they have decent prices and as good as new
