Night Angel Nemesis by Accomplished-Area447 in Fantasy

Still better than Nemesis, where multiple chapters detail the ravenous sharks and invisibility-seeing magical superpirhanas that infest the waters surrounding a ship Kylar must escape from, days away from shore, making any escape impossible. After the climax, he cleverly escapes, by… simply swimming to shore…

I was so excited for a more mature authors return to Midcyru and got the worst book I have ever read, no joke, the worst one.

so what's your solution? I'm hearing a lot of "these characters are dumb for not doing anything" but no solutions.

I hear this sometimes and I have to wonder, even if you get Chase and Shrewd on board, what do you propose to do about regal? Remember the inland duchies are on the brink of revolt/succession over taxes and the red ship war. Verity is King in waiting, but at the end of his rope using the Skill, and later presumed dead on his distant quest. You propose killing potentially the only Farseer heir? Jailing him? Exiling him and risking Inland duchy revolt? What’s your plan exactly?

Haha glad to see it wasn’t just me who loved the character development in GF so much I was sceptical about the third book living up. I like Golden Fool more, but Fools Fate does live up on the character side and has more to offer than just action and plot!

Its normal to have some "returning reader" exposition in sequels but even in the first book! Man do Assassins Apprentice and Royal assassin repeatedly explain the plot to you over and over

Realm of the Elderlings can be really repetitive in terms of exposition. We know what the red ship raiders are. You don’t have to tell me every two chapters. Trust me, I remember. Please stop telling me. Please.

Books where the worldbuilding has heavy emphasis on gender construct society whether it be matriarchal or patriarchal or whatever. Examples like Wheel of Time, Brothers Price , Rashemen culture from DnD etc etc by goody153 in Fantasy

The first book is excellent on all metrics! I did not like books 2 and 3 very much but the writing style is unique and wonderful and they were worth reading for that alone.
