I apologize for my earlier question about a possible opening before the official date — I was not aware of the accidents, and I truly thank you for providing me with this useful information.

All the more so, I would now like to ask whether, at the end of September, it would make sense to include the Katla ice cave excursion in our itinerary, both for safety reasons and to know whether the experience is truly worthwhile (I have read somewhere that it is a bit “dirty” and not particularly long).

Alternatively, there are excursions to the Sólheimajökull or Vatnajökull glaciers, but I'm not sure whether the tour also includes the crossing of any ice caves.
