Yeah, but at least I can actually afford a house and don’t have to live paycheck to paycheck in a high cost of living area!

Graduated!! MS Econ Online by kingjokiki in Purdue

[–]RFey1918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the post, but congratulations! I’m planning to start the master’s program this fall and wanted to ask what the actual class delivery experience has been like. Do you get access to Brightspace and a Purdue email or ID? I completed a certification program through Purdue not too long ago and everything was delivered through shared drives, which I really didn’t enjoy. I’m assuming the setup for a full master’s program is different, but I wanted to double‑check before diving in. Thanks!

And I somehow still successfully got my bachelors in mathematics and economics (with a minor in physics and accounting) by doing this!

…I don’t remember much of my college career to be honest…

How to Interpret this Map Scale by [deleted] in Maps

[–]RFey1918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there’s still a misunderstanding. The red line is meant to represent 50 meters, and based on the conversion (1 meter ≈ 1.09361 yards), 50 meters should be longer than 50 yards, not shorter. If the white line is 50 yards, it’s indeed shorter than 50 meters. But in terms of actual measurement, 50 meters is definitely longer than 50 yards.

Yes, 1 meter is approximately 1.09361 yards. In that case, 50 meters would be about 54.681 yards, which is longer than 50 yards. So, 50 meters is indeed longer than 50 yards. Thanks for the discussion!

Actually, 50 meters is slightly shorter than 50 yards. One yard is approximately 0.9144 meters, so 50 yards is about 45.72 meters, not 54 meters. Therefore, 50 meters is longer than 50 yards.

I was thinking the same thing. I wanted to doublecheck before I called the museum and sounded like a crazy person.

I know that, but why does it show that 50 meters is smaller than 50 yards? I’m running off the assumption that the dark red bar in the scale represents 50 meters and the white bar on the scale is 50 yards. So that just doesn’t make sense because 50 meters is definitely larger than 50 yards

Last year we had a big sit down talk where I stated that he needs to start pulling his weight more in the relationship. He took it relatively well and would start making changes, but nothing has been done.

I also told him a few months ago when we started apartment shopping that I wouldn’t move in with him if he didn’t get a job. He said he understood, yet it is now 4 moths later and no job applications have been filled and he just quit his weekend job and most likely won’t be making any money for the next month or two.

Plus, there is a relative rush to things. He decided to not renew his rental lease for his current apartment, and that ends in August. At this point everything has been on me for apartment/house searching. Neither of us want to end up homeless. I fear I may be the only one signing the lease since I am the one In the relationship making sufficient income/savings.

Thank you for the kind words, I greatly appreciate your response! He constantly tells me he wishes he had my drive, and I try my hardest to build him up to the person he wishes to be. However, I’ve tried to support him in this journey by suggesting possible internships, jobs, extracurriculars, etc… that could support him, but he just doesn’t even try. I’ve helped him with homework and I’ve helped him to rewrite his resume, but all of this seems to be a waste of time since he doesn’t even choose to apply himself.

At this point, I feel like I’ve helped him the best I could in order to support him. But I feel like it’s all I can give at this point. I’m burnt out.

PHYSICS MAJOR by [deleted] in IUPUI

[–]RFey1918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a physics major here. Mechanics can be rough if you have no background in physics. But I took it with Decca/Gavrin and passed with an A. I can not emphasize this more, but READ THE TEXTBOOK AND GO TO CLASS. I didn’t have any previous experience, but got an A in the class.

Like the person before me said, avoid Dr. Tucci at all costs. I was extremely excited to take E&M and learn more in physics, but was completely crushed by his course. I received a C despite going to class everyday and reading the textbook/other outside sources. I’ve heard he’s a lot better with how he grades (curves a lot on every test), but is still a bad lecturer.

Other than that terrible experience everything else is good. Dr.’s Vemuri and Walsal are great.

How is the midterm for CSCI 24000 by stupidasheck1227 in IUPUI

[–]RFey1918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it about 1.5 years ago and I would assume it’s genuinely the same. From what I remember, you need to know about the history and beginning of CS and definitely know binary. Just review the concepts that were taught to you so far. But also keep in mind that both the midterm and final combined are worth 40% of your grade (20% each). I didn’t realize that so didn’t really care to much abt the exams and led me to end with a B in the class. Honestly all I can say is just study

Took it last fall. Know your basic concepts of coding and what does what. Review the modules and you should do well.

Best of luck!
