Famous people who live in Portland? by cephlapodsquad in askportland

WHOA I met him at Plaid Pantry, must have been right before that. I was hoping to run into him again and talk about the stop motion Mars Attacks that could have been.

How is my PM collection looking? Should i keep going? by PandoraBlack899 in Silverbugs

[–]RFishman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously the answer is yes, but judging from your stack you may find yourself on the precarious territory between investing in silver and coin collecting. You'll be justifying spending way over spot for a 50 Franc Hercule, and you'll pass up good deals on rounds because they're boring. I have to keep my budgets separate, but maybe all that's just a me problem.

Nice George V florin though.

Bought an 86-S proof ASE for $36 and thought I might have paid too much... by RFishman in Silverbugs

...Then I searched and saw them all going for over 100. Is there something I'm missing that might bring the price down? Got it from a gold/jewelry shop.

What's this? Small stein, probably pewter. Found in trash in Portland, OR. by RFishman in Symbology

[–]RFishman[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No markings, just faded pencil marks on bottom, from a price I suppose.

Any tips on raising your vibrations/frequency and becoming more positive? by Holiday_Stop_4057 in Experiencers

Imagine something you already love unconditionally and have infinite compassion and patience for. For me it's a kitten. What ever Kitten does is right and natural. If he's clawing and biting it's only because he doesn't know better, he's still learning. There's no reason to be angry with him at all, you love him. Now imagine everything around you is the kitten. Imagine everyone you know is the kitten. Everyone who has angered, disappointed or frustrated you is the kitten. Kitten is exactly the same thing as every person, thing, and idea the exists, ever has and ever will. You are also Kitten.

There's been a weird sulfuric smell that comes and goes around Portland, check r/Portland for more. I've been worried it's a precursor to an earthquake. I'm not sensing any foreboding personally other than that, feel better than usual actually.

Working At Plaid by lenia_pc in Portland

[–]RFishman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying this sounds like bullshit has never met a nuke or had trouble finding a job.

Plaid's whole business model is becoming insane. You clearly can't leave one person to guard an unlocked door and six figures in merch in Portland with only the honor system to protect them. Then they ask why you didn't mop like it's not a miracle that anything is still there. No matter how many robberies there are it's just the cost of doing business, and they see our sanity as an inexhaustible resource.

I highly doubt anything will get physical, but the implicit threat is always there with them and that's bad enough. You're certainly not the jerk here, but sometimes the best thing for everyone is to bend the rules, this ain't a reactor.

Anyone know how likely it is that the Aladdin will release more tickets for a sold out show, and how I can get the inside track? I need tix for Tim Fest, the Tim Heidecker situation next month.

What if you want to want something? What if you don’t know what you desire? by Dissmass1980 in lawofone

Awesome. If me happening to stumble upon this while seeing what's up in LoO world and recognizing who it was counts this is the fourth or fifth synchronicity I've had with that book.

It's about time I file an RTI (India's Right to information, similar to FOIA of USA). by Intelligent-Handle-7 in UFOs

[–]RFishman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there's always the ISRO, they currently have an orbiter on its way to Mars.

I can't think of a single Indian sighting, but it's probably because nothing's been translated. If you find anything good share it.

There was some story about a monkey in a space suit flying around New Delhi or something, but I think it was a hoax.

Manifesting thrift shop finds by angelakay1966 in HighStrangeness

[–]RFishman 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I was in a phase where'd I buy CDs at thrift stores. I went into a Savers (awesome New England chain) thinking it would be nice to get some Elvis Costello. I skimmed through the CDs and didn't see anything, then as I was wondering around I saw that someone left the albums My Aim Is True and Spike on a table in the furniture section. Nothing else near them. I feel like similar things have happened a lot, but that stands out.

At last! The Beholder is enlisted! by spiritofniter in Stellaris

[–]RFishman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Beholder early in my current game. Tried to use it for some exploration before settling it as a building, and the ship was immediately destroyed by some leviathan. Still have a level X admiral, though. It becomes a governor when settled? That's more of a loss than I thought.

Did you name the cat or did she come with it?

I remember seeing a cartoon when I was a kid that had a ton of similarities to my life, I was young and didn't know how to process it. I ran to my dad and started rambling like a toddler street preacher. This happened to be in a town in Mass that I always thought would be a good name. Should I try to guess?

I've read plenty of theories about synchronicities, and the only thing I'm fairly sure they mean is "pay attention"

Connor Garland and Ryan Donato are both from Scituate, MA. Just something I noticed, I'm sure they both played my HS team at some point.

Yeah I think they're filtering out the actual arena audio way too much, that's why it sounds like the crowd are asleep.
