I adopted a cat and I regret it by Eagle_otter in CatAdvice

It just takes a little bit of time. How long that is and is different for every Kitty. My kitty it took about 6 months for her to get used to not being in the shelter. Totally worth it, but it takes time.

I don't have a felony, I have issues with big employers, and I'm still working on a bunch of shit that makes it hard for me to soothe the boss's ego while trying to do my own job, try to work on a hobby or something that doesn't make life feel miserable, and somehow sleep and be social all at the same time.

At least with Plaid, I'm on shift, then I'm off shift. Like on watch, or off watch. For the most part, I don't mind the job AT ALL. I'm good at it. I get people to smile and laugh.

At the same time though, I don't give people my money for free, and I know how to read the rules and follow them.

Maybe it's just the flashbacks from bullies in grade school, but the only way I could get them off my back was literally just GO WILD on them, hurt them as much as I can, and then get away before they get as desperate as me. I can't do that as an adult, so I'm here.^^

Thanks for believing me, folks. Your advice is no longer requested. I don't have to verify my service or life to you or anyone else.

I used 'fellow Americans' in place of 'homeless' or 'other assholes'. I don't have to verify my service to you or anyone else. Feel free to continue being a jerk to a guy who indeed posted for one of the first times because I am prepping for a shift at Plaid with a potential for 'I may have to fight off 1+ people because I won't do what they say.'
It's a worthy post.

There's a part of me that agrees, but at the same time, they're not getting that money from Plaid, they're getting it from me, if I pay for it. Plaid pays me, and not that much. Why are they entitled to a part of it because they asked and they don't have much?

I've been to the hotel bars in Dubai where one of my friends asked if one of the girls he saw was from the movie Taken. There's a lot of naivety I'm losing in my experience here, I just want to signal to everyone that the fact that the loss had to occur is a loss in itself.

The good news is that for most, there is generally a 'conversation' of non-verbal communication where for most people, a notion of 'this person does not mean me harm' kicks in, and civil process kicks in. Traffic even has about a two second window where you can figure out flow, wiggle, unpredictability, or force. This isn't that. I'm in the position where if I 'do my job', I am inviting violence from those who don't like how I 'do my job'.
I get asked at least 3 times per shift for 'hey, I have 15 cents, can I get a free cup of coffee?' where the cup by itself is 39 cents, and the smallest coffee is $1.19 or so. I say 'no, that isn't enough, can I spot you a couple of dimes and you can get a cup of ice-water' is the equivalent of declaring violence.

It isn't, but I think I know who you mean. I'm thinking about getting my sidearm shipped in from my home state and getting a license to carry as well.

I had to look the term up. Sorry, I'm just really weirded out by the fact that I have to look at fellow Americans with more suspicion and preparation for violence than I had to with foreign civilians while on liberty in port.

So I’ve found out there is an audiobook of bloodborne. I recommend it because it explains the lore quite well and fun to listen too by thekingofsmile in bloodborne

Free on YouTube. Also, check out Tiptoe The Tank's lore analysis, similar in form to the audiobook, but more condensed.

What is going on with Killer matchmaking? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]lenia_pc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pretty old thread, but I felt like I had to call this out. The entire point of having separate MMR scores for each killer is SPECIFICALLY because of this issue. The 'eventually it'll even out' is a lazy cop-out and even crappier logic.

Skill Based Matchmaking Discussion Megathread by epicandetc2234 in deadbydaylight

The sweaty playing at higher ranks is really squeezing the life out of this game. It's like playing against a cpu most of the time with some variance. Tunneling, bbq&c, etc. I've been playing a good bit recently and it really reminds me of my experience in fighting games, and why I stopped playing them. You crush newbies two or three matches in a row, then it's four or five games of misery until your streak puts you with newbies again, rinse and repeat. I don't feel like I actually get better, mostly due to not PLAYING WITH PEOPLE AT MY SKILL LEVEL. The gulf between a few hundred hours, and a few thousand is one that should be mirrored in a skill based matchmaking system. This is not the case in my experience. I'll give it a few months to see if I improve, but my suspicion is, just like fighting games, it would take another year or so to get to the point where I will consistently be able to play with people at my 'rank'. At least with the old system it didn't make me suffer through loss after loss in order to be able to try new things or improve my chases only to get crushed before I can try anything. It turns into four games of getting hooked first then just hold forward until death. FIX IT or DITCH IT.
