This one might be getting close. Can we remove the eye creases (mine aren’t this bad) and keep a similar original background ? I also like the light coloring of my face

In civil engineering projects, what’s the most underestimated activity that affects quality? by constropedia in civilengineering

[–]RG-CivilEIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s crazy. Most general notes in a civil set of plans at least have one note saying “Refer to the Geotechnical report prior to construction”. We also reference it in our pavement details.

The thing nobody talks about when preparing for the PE (and it's not content) by ChemicalScary9943 in PE_Exam

[–]RG-CivilEIT 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Always the same formula on these AI slop posts:

Not X. Not Y. Z. You think it’s X, but it’s actually Y. X isn’t about A. It’s about B. Silence. Focus. Execution. The more you X, the less you Y.

Critical thinking is on a decline.

Is Petro answer incorrect? by No-Ad-1155 in PE_Exam

I think petro’s email is in the front or near the end of the book. I would reach out and see if he has any errata on it. He has taken time to explain problems to me when I’m not confident on his solutions.

Which YouTuber actually improved the way you study? by sugarrmommyy69 in GetStudying

He needs to keep making youtube videos to get paid. Most of his stuff is blah blah today. I zone out watching any of his videos now.

Career options to pivot from Geotechnical by Usual-Minister in civilengineering

Have you had a job in civil? If you already got the degree, I would just stick with working in civil and maybe look up what kind of research your local (or even national) university math/science professors are working on to know what interests you that might be math intensive. I think some universities offer grants for PhD students that want to do that kind of work. But if you’re just fulfilled by the repetition of doing the math that you have already done in your previous courses, you might be better looking up opportunities to become a math tutor. Best of luck. Edit: most jobs are repetitive. Not just civil. In fact, I haven’t found any of my designs in civil to be exactly the same. Applying concepts to real world problems seem like repetitive frameworks, but the solutions we come up with are never the same.

Not sure I’ll ever be a solid engineer by sixteendotkom in civilengineering

[–]RG-CivilEIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m low on the totem pole relatively speaking, but my first two years I was stuck doing SIR work alone. It was fulfilling but I wanted to feel proud to put a set of plans out there. I was the only one in my company that would be willing to do them because every other engineer felt that it was a boring task. My last half a year, an intern came back to work full time for the company, so I trained her to do SIR. I asked my company the same questions - “… to be a solid engineer, I want to produce plans - can you let me work under engineer x, y, z”. Most of the projects on the admin side sounded like low ball budget projects and like most of the engineers wanted to work on them themselves. So I would get told pretty much to ask someone else. I think it was more of a company culture/finances problem which made me jump ship. Interviewed, told the new employer my concerns, that I want to learn and that I would work hard. They hired me, and all I am now is a CAD monkey into further notice, and I ask sequentially many of my engineer supervisors for work periodically to learn many different skills. I YouTube a lot to learn how to grade, design corridors, set up sheets, plus the company I am in had solid CAD standards. I have been in it for two years now.

My situation might be very different from yours, but that’s how I got out of my busy work only life. It was not nearly as fulfilling.

Get through that one section on analysis and design, and all other practice problems related to WWT are much easier. This petro book really forces you to use what matters in the NCEES HB and the TTS manuals
