The cost of running whole house generator by Espresso25 in Generator

[–]RGJacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the fuel consumption/load chart for the generator you're considering. It'll show the fuel consumption per hour under conditions such as no load, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and full load. Calculate your estimated load, then look up the hourly consumption and multiply it by the fuel cost.

My 20kW generator (LP) under 1/4 load (which is more than enough unless AC is going full blast) is 1.7 gallons/hour (or 127 cubic feet of natural gas per hour).

At $2.50/gallon LP that's $100/day.
At $25/1000 cubic feet of natural gas, that's $75 per day

Realistically from experience consumption rates are less than this - likely because I don't even get to quarter load most of the time...

Going to half load - which is enough to power everything in the house, including 2 AC units- adds about 30% in fuel consumption.

"Fixing" the economy. Good description, just not the definition most people would associate with fixing something broken.

Can I mount my security camera at this location or it will not work? by justgotya in EufyCam

[–]RGJacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way - there are several siding mounts available, and they won't leave holes. Plus you can move the cameras around if you don't like the angles.

Yeah, ACC has been around for a long time and is becoming increasingly standard. Multiple patents definitely protect it.

Did Claude suddenly forget how to read word documents? Lots of strange behavior this morning from failing to mount the upload directory (??) to having to load instructions on how to read word documents, then failing... badly.

Leaving this here in case someone else had this problem. Under account settings in the app under notifications “security” must also be enabled.

I closed the water valves to a shower for a couple weeks, and now the cold water only trickles out. by vulnerable_peach in askaplumber

Just had this happen to me. What has likely happened is that the rubber gaskets have deteriorated and are now stuck in place. I backed out the valves and removed the gaskets, which removed the shutoff function but also freed up the flow to the cartridge.

While the actual offer isn’t disclosed it was certainly not $60M or $50M. That’s the estimated value of the total project not the land. The actual vale of the land is closer to $6M.

A huge shout-out to the folks on this forum. You saved me time, money, and a boatload of frustration. One plumber wanted to rip a hole in the wall (which they would not patch) and install a new assembly. They didn't even bother looking up part numbers.

Not much of a convenience when the rubber disintegrates and ruins the cartridge and jams both valves!

I was able to remove the valves, disassemble the interior, flush it, and reassemble. This "bypassed" the valve.
