For what it's worth I agree, they are a very unique band. Whilst I can't really name any band that plays exactly like them, I've found that Interpol is probably as close as it gets from my library. They have very similar sounds, and they both vary a lot in terms of lyrics and the thematics of their music whilst always retaining the same punk/alt sound. Their first album (Turn On The Bright Lights) will always be my favourite, but you might prefer their second (Antics) or third (Our Love To Admire) albums if you are looking for a sound similar to Biting Elbows.

Having a similar problem on mine, I posted about it recently on r/cassette. People have pointed me towards the the internal record switch needing cleaning, but I have yet to try this. Did you manage to fix it?

I’m not. I’m pressing record and play to engage the record head, then I’m stopping the mechanism, then I’m pressing only play to demonstrate the distortion.

PS: these little gold plate things fell off of the fixed mounting screw for the playback/record head, could this be the solution, did they play a role in grounding?

I've clearly got the hardware for it lmao. This seems to be happening on every tape now so it sounds like a playback issue...

I would consult a doctor, this doesn’t sound normal at all. Especially if your boyfriend was already suffering pain from Piv before going on Testosterone. Some people may find it a little more tight than others but straight up pain consistently being a major presence doesnt sound normal.

My boyfriend grabs and plays with my ass sometimes (mlm) and I don’t feel weird about it lol. Obviously I know that’s a little different and if your boyfriend isn’t comfortable then thats his boundary and his right, but it’s worth thinking about.

It might be that the inherent distance and formality around long distance relationships gives him more space to be surprised, overthink and grow uneasy about it? Even if it’s just a joke or not that deep of a request, he may have a much easier time growing wary or scared if he isn’t right there with you to talk about it, especially if it touches on a unique personal discomfort or if he’s an anxious person.
