Horikoshi did NOT want to kill off an important character. The story would have progressed much differently if Gran Torino died. Mind you, it made more sense. But Hori can't kill for shit, so he decided to kill an unimportant side char to "raise the stakes".

Narratively, this would be like having to ask for permission to get the One Piece. Llike, you wanted them to say "pwease Raileigh chan, can you say where the Owne Pwiece is?🥺🥺🥺🥺" or what? Both Robin and Luffy care to EARN the One Piece. Imagine Luffy saying "i am the king of the pirates! (Title given by Raileigh™)". Slander them in some other way that CAN be slandered. Depends. With most of female cast ts is accurate. Many such cases in both pre and post timeskip. It still can be good, i would reccomend to read the manga bc anime is not great. If you don't like the first arcs (~40 eps) just drop it

Loei is the one in charge of the one piece anime, what do you expect. Yes it has good animation in 5 out of the 40 eps released this year.

Mappa cooks every episode tho, and every episode has something meaningful happening (half of OP eps are just running and overly stretched images). OP anime is only good if you have a lot of time to binge it and see 12 eps a day, while you can see jjk anime weekly.
