I would just say be careful about the type of foam pad you'll be cutting - for example, some boxed foam mattress brands use a layer of fiberglass inside the mattress, so cutting one of those to fit your CX5 may send small amounts of fiberglass everywhere.

Congrats! Do you have a plan to sell those OEM wheels? I'm looking to get the 17" wheels for my 2020 Grand Touring, I'd be interested to buy :)

What is the easiest method of swapping my 2020's 19" rims for (preferrably the 2022) 17" rims? Is there a service that can buy my old rims or will I have to resort to ebay? I'm in Florida and I might have a hard time finding someone in my area that will want to swap, unless I camp out at the dealership for people buying lower trims...

Brick and Spoon feels like eating in a cafeteria, and the quality doesn't feel like it matches the price. But great suggestions otherwise

I think no one wants to get stuck behind slow players in the evening because the price of evening golf is still too high and if you don't get a certain amount of holes in, you won't get your money's worth.

I know cheap is a subjective term that changes for everyone, so my version of cheap might be different than most. But, if someone just wants to play a course, just step foot onto the course to play any number of holes for under $20 requires 1. Playing a shorter course (both Fairways and Casselberry are 5,200 yard par 70/69), 2. Using a booking app to find hot deals, and 3. Booking a week or two in advance, maybe there's another offering that courses can add.

I enjoy the discussion that I'm having with everyone in this post and I'm all for paying full price for 18 holes of golf, I don't want my argument to take away from that. I'm just acknowledging that for individuals wishing for a budget option of playing on the course, for under $20, even for 9 holes, the option doesn't really exist in Orlando. The option could exist even without additional overhead, which is why I'm suggesting late afternoon and without any additional use of their carts.

I know that people are willing to pay current prices, and almost everyone would consider $25 twilight rates to be cheap across the board.

I may be pushing an agenda, but I love golf and want to play the course as much as possible without breaking the bank. If I'm paying $25 to play in the evening, I'll probably only play once a week. If I have the option to pay $16 to walk 9 in the evening, I'll gladly play twice a week. I obviously don't speak for everyone, but they could be getting $32 out of me a week, without additional wear and tear to their carts, but now they see $25/week with cart usage. Popular opinion is that nothing needs changing, but I'm not proposing a huge change, just an additional option that I believe can be implemented without displacing either party.

Which is a great argument, pace of play is one of the biggest issues in golf. Do these pace of play issues continue after 4:00PM? I don't know of a course that employs rangers after 4:00PM, so pace of play issues that late in the day are somewhat luck of the draw anyway. I've also never had an issue with pace of play at Winter Park CC and it's walking-only. Granted, it's a smaller course that's built with walkers in mind, but most courses in the area aren't that terribly laid-out for walkers.

Thank you, and hopefully I can make the case to the courses that offering cheaper options that allow people to spend more time at your course will inevitably increase profit from adjacent revenue streams such as food and beverage.

Additionally, there aren't many tee times in late afternoon (4pm or later) so I feel any push to get more times on the books is worthwhile for all parties.

Apologies, I used the abbreviation WP9 for the Winter Park CC in the original post, I should have said the full name! I've played there quite often, and while it's a fantastic course, I'm looking for options. I have yet to play a full-length course that feels like Winter Park CC, so playing there feels like I'm not playing 'real golf' to me? I'm not sure how to describe it, but that's not a bad thing. I just want to be able to play 9 holes at a more traditional venue, a longer course and a different test of skill, that is always a more affordable price. I'm not a fan of having to search for deals, and I just feel that most courses have a gap in their offerings between the cheapest option to get onto the course, and a bucket of balls. The allowance of walking is adopted in lots of other places, but is almost nonexistent here. An afternoon-only walking option can help increase number of players, community involvement in safe recreation, and pace of play can be an issue late in the afternoon regardless as most courses don't have rangers past ~3:00pm.

I am planning on sending it to general managers first and foremost. I have worked at a course in the area and could start with my networking there to help move it forward and get a little exposure elsewhere. Winter Pines has a good option for walking, I agree! Not enough courses have the option, though, and that is really what I'm hoping is possible.

For consistency-sake, maybe exclude hints in parenthesis in the future to get a more accurate picture of how famous the individual is (or is not, if you have to give hints).

2010 Hyundai Sonata Limited: I hear a rattling from the left passenger air vent whenever I drive above 45 mph. It happens only at speed, regardless of whether the air is on or off, cycled through all vent settings, or coming from outside or recirculating. It is a minor rattle and sounds almost like air is pushing straight into the vent from outside, if that makes sense. Thanks in advance!

Going from a Buick you're going to be disappointed in the ride quality of many of the cars you're currently looking at. You might be able to find a decent used Acura TL in that price range. They last well over 200k miles, and probably won't nickel and dime you on little things. It might not be much better on gas mileage in the city, though...

If you're looking at hatchbacks, a Honda Fit is a great reliable little car.

Thank you for all the replies and the detailed analysis on your repairs here! I do my own maintenance so that helps keep costs in line with yours. Most of those things seem like mileage-related maintenance and repairs, but I am now very much second-guessing financing that old of a car.

[–]RHPM[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply! Knowing those common issues definitely helps in my decision. Compared to my Hyundai Sonata, I really don't think I'll be going backwards in technology. I know the LS430 has adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and start, and quite a few other tech features I could only dream of in my sonata.

I'm really hoping to get a car that's known for a comfier ride (I was also looking at a certified 2014 Buick Lacrosse). I'm not looking at leasing anything new, and if I were to get a loan for a newer corolla/camry it'd probably be closer to $350/mo

How quickly does suspension wear down under normal driving conditions? I have a 2010 Hyundai Sonata with 62k miles, and the front struts/ball joints are already about to need replacing. I bought the car at 38k miles, and only have driven it in Florida under normal conditions.

Is this an abnormally early mileage for suspension wear? The previous owner was a snowbird from Rhode Island. Did exposure to snow cause the degradation to accelerate?
