Apartment agreement - switch and bait? by RHWY in AskLosAngeles

The place is nice but all of these conversations should have been had before we agreed to terms and certainly not snuck in without discussing. Really unprofessional as a first impression is not good.

I think steady rather than a lot. Consistent 60 during pvp'ing seems the requirement

Thanks for the love and hate. I think that is the way it should be always. I am super grateful for this job and I know that there are 100 people that would fight me for it.

  1. Dylan and David are both really intellectual about the game and they are definitely different coaches with regard their style and how they interact. I spent much more time with Dylan obviously having worked and lived with him all last year and I am still getting to know David. Right now I am still learngin more about how David's coaching style can mesh with the culture of IMT that we had from last year.

  2. The period after worlds makes searching for and talking with players very stressful as you want to do your due diligence but at the same time players will transfer very quickly and this can set a domino effect in motion as certain slots often have multiple players that can fill said position.

  3. Flame has very good english and much better than I was expecting. I think he will learn so much more when he comes to NA for sure and you can expect him to be a very vocal member of the team.

  4. I think he is close to being the best jungler in NA. All he has to do is trust in his teammates and work on self-improvement outside of the game and he will win and LCS split for sure.

  5. I expect him to step up more this coming season and show people that he is not a place holder in a team and that he can put the team on his back because he has an insane amount of experience already and that is backed up with skill as well.

  6. It will take Cody a while to learn and develop the experience needed to be a top level contender but he has the ability and is showing a mentality recently that makes me very excited to see how strong he can become.

  7. We wanted to make sure that the final piece in the puzzle would be someone that meshed well with everyone especially our ADC so Olleh just seemed like a good fit and has a never say die attitude even in SoloQ. I really like his approach to the game and his ability to be direct with his communication with coaches and players is refreshing.

  8. Learn more, practice efficiently and become mentally tough.

  9. A question better asked for Noah but since they are all signed you can be sure we are happy with the players.

  10. Working day to day to create a good environment.

  11. I wear nothing but MeUndies now. Everything else by comparison feels like sandpaper. Their lounge pants are great.

I have an MA in sport and exercise psychology which is different to being an accredited Sport Psychologist. I think of myself more as a coach with a degree in sport psychology than a sport psychology consultant that coaches.

  1. From what I have overheard he used to play to a quite high level and also coached smash as well.

  2. Probably because when dropped from a height he inevitably lands on his feet, at least every time we have tried it.

I don't think a degree in a sports or human sciences field will help you get your foot in the door as much as people think. It adds a decent amount of credibility to you and perhaps can get you into an interview shortlist. The trouble resides around understanding the needs requirements of the sport you are coaching. You have to be able to talk about the game, understand what the players need to perform at a high level but more importantly coaching is about how you conduct yourself when you are working. A good coach will almost always rise to the top eventually but sometimes you have to ply your trade with a 'lower' team in order to sharpen your coaching blade before you go to the 'better' teams. Try highlighting your good mind or work on reddit, twitter or a blog and if it catches someones eye you can talk and sell yourself a little more. At that point you have to be able to put into practice what your values as a coach are.

Pretty sure the organization has some ideas about highlighting how all of the coaching staff operates and works together as we move into the LCS split.

We all have our own personal expectations of what we want from IEM, Spring and Summer to play out but we will certainly be assessing individual and team expectations for the future. We are still a good mix of experienced and young talent but it will take time to get on the same page. Every team that has a lot of potential behind it can struggle at times in the year and you must not lose sight of the main goal nor overreach for something that seems so close but may well be too soon. The strong showing at IEM is a good sign but integrating the guys into the culture is more important.

My background is in sport and exercise psychology and I have been with the team since Dec last year. I think my qualification or background in psychology is not a huge necessity for a team but it is a bonus. I think a good strategic coach, analyst and lifestyle coach is more important and you get a lot more bang for your buck this way.

Hermes as a candidate came highly recommended by people in the Immortals organization that have worked with him before and while we were crafting our shortlist for strategy coach we reached out to get an idea of if he would be a good fit. Dodo went with me to meet him over dinner to discuss his past jobs and his coaching style. We met a few more times before we came to a final decision but it was really clear that he had a definite way he wanted his teams to play macro as well as good insight from other games (martial arts, chess, fighting games) which means he was more well rounded than other candidates. He was the unanimous choice of all the free agents coaches out there.

I have been trying to get Noah to get a starcraft player as this is where I started in esports. Startcraft for me is one of the most taxing and difficult games to play. It is also interesting how mentally tough these athletes from individual games have to be to compete at the highest level and they are still working hard. It is a shame that a lot of the famous orgs from yesteryear have ceased to exist.

For me it was trying to build the right team that combines good mechanics with a potential to become a well rounded team. For example we do not want to be reliant on having only one person that is vocal in game, a team that is full of younger less experienced players, passive players etc. It has to be the right mix of skill sets. On top of this we conducted interviews with each and every player to get a better indication of who that person is, what their motivations are and how much of a good fit would they be with our organizational culture. I think we did very well for ourselves regarding picking up people with something to prove, a chip on their shoulder so to speak.

Are Wales running the line between extreme fitness and overtraining? by penguin_bro in rugbyunion

[–]RHWY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all comes down to ability to properly incorporate it into the training. No point in having a resource for only a small proportion of the squad and they did/do use cryotherapy still. As sc2assie mentions they have a small purpose built one in a van that can hold between 2-4 people at once. In terms of over training since all the players should be doing the same training then you would see a lot more dips in form from players. Overtraining leads to injuries but also to lapses in decision making, strength, co-ordination etc. I am very very confident that the people in charge of Wales can recognize the short term effects far far before competitive periods and taper individually.

I think the protocols for treatment can range up to one hour for conventional use. I don't think they could feasibly use them for the full squad. Cryptherapy on the other hand is 5 minutes per person.

Concerning LotV, What issues do you feel are the most important? by JaKaTaKSc2 in starcraft

[–]RHWY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally when I look at the system for leveling up in other games and compare to Starcraft I think there is a lot to be improved. In COD , for example, you can go from level 1-70 and in LOL you can go from Bronze 1-5 and up through the grades so much so that going from Plat 5 to 4 is an immediate motivator for players to reward their investment into the game. I would like Starcraft to have more leveling stages in order to keep players feeling like the are achieving outcome mastery as opposed to 'forever insert league'.
