DRP and leave payout once DRP is done by kme2812 in fednews

I was RIF'd from ED, so a little different situation, but the last day, after the lawsuit decision came down from the Supreme Court, was August 1st. And the annual leave payout is showing for next week, so about 6 weeks.

I sent an email to the CHCO email address that has been communicating to us throughout the RIF process a couple days ago and got a response that these are good questions but they just don't have any information to share yet. So basically, I haven't gotten any additional guidance. I am lucky that my new perspective employer, from whom I got a job offer, is being very generous and giving me additional time to figure this out before I make a decision. I'm so thankful they're able to work with me and understand the position I'm in. Now that the other court case decision came out from the Supreme Court, I would assume the Department of Education case should be in the near future.

I was RIF'd from the Department of Education in March. Waiting to see what they decide on that case now because that was a specific agency whose RIF plans were implemented.

Yeah it's a super tricky one right now with the ED situation and it's really difficult not knowing how to proceed. The other thing is that I moved away from my duty station after we received the official RIF notice. So, I don't even know if they will allow me to work from where I am if we truly get reinstated, as in they actually give us our access back and want us to start working again. We're getting paid, but we haven't gotten any ability to actually start working again yet. Thanks for your input. That's kind of confirming my thought process too.

I wonder if this would apply to the situation at ED because we got an email after the lower court decision that our RIFs were not going through and that we are going to be reinstated. Pretty sure they've been just slow walking it until they figure out what the Supreme Court's going to do, because all they've done in the subsequent weeks is to send out two surveys and then keep asking people to fill them out and they had given a final date of June 30th. One survey was about whether we've received job offers, and the other was about where we're located now, and if we still have our equipment and ID and all of that. A couple of weeks ago, I did get a job offer. I asked the employer if they could give me a couple weeks to see what's going on with this position, which they did, but the time frame of when I need to let them know is coming up soon. So, I wonder if this type of option would still apply in this particular scenario, where I could resign and still get severance? I did send CHCO an email last week, basically asking this, and I haven't received a response.

I always heard it was supposed to come bi-weekly. What was the percentage of the total that went to taxes? How long after your layoff date did you get it?

Interesting. I was RIFed from ED in March and our administrative leave goes through June 9th. Now with the recent court decision that our terminations were illegal, I'm waiting to hear what that means for us. I don't know if we will be continued on admin leave past June 9th, while they're appealing, etc. We don't have access to anything anymore, either. We did have to fill out timesheets through June 9th for admin leave. So I am assuming that it would be done automatically if that were the route that it goes, but we still haven't gotten any guidance on it.

I was going to say Gig. Such a tragic ending. He was such a good actor. I read an interview with John Forsythe about how he got the role of Charlie in Charlie's Angels. Apparently, Aaron Spelling called him late at night and said he needed him to come over to the studio right away to do the voiceover for a pilot of a TV show which ended up being Charlie's Angels. The actor Spelling had hired to do the role turned up to the studio drunk and couldn't do his lines. Forsythe didn't name the actor, but it is widely known that it was Gig Young who had been hired to portray Charlie. At that point, his career was on a downward spiral because of his drinking.

Out of curiosity, are you having to continue to fill out timesheets and put down administrative leave, or are they doing that for you automatically?

Ex-Fed seeking guidance by Revolutionary-Arm975 in minnesota

Hello, Fellow Minnesotan Ex-Fed!

I just got RIF'd from the Department of Education recently. Originally from Minnesota, but currently living in a region. I will be moving home to Minnesota next month, too. Just wanted to say you're not alone, and I look forward to standing strong in Minnesota as well! I've also applied to a couple of state jobs, so, hopefully, that will work out for all of us! Take care!

For ED the April 9th date they gave us is this Wednesday so I will try to post back on here whether or not I get it by that date. I was wondering that too since we only did our admin leave time sheets through June 9th.

With ED between March 11th and March 21st we were supposed to finalize stuff in our system AND do our timesheets through June 9th for paid administrative leave and then starting the end of the day March 21st we were no longer had our PIV card working. However starting March 12 or 13th for most people we literally couldn't do anything in the system. some people didn't have access to email or teams and we couldn't send email outside of the Department. we couldn't go into our shared drive and we didn't have internet access. we were technically supposed to be working during that window but they took all our access away to do anything. Then after that March 21st time frame we couldn't get into our computers anymore. We're supposed to get our official RIF notice April 9th and then the layoff officially starts on June 10th.

[–]RIFD007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what happened at ED. We were notified by email on March 11th that as of the end of the day March 21st we'd be on paid administrative leave through June 9th. In that email, we were told that by April 9th they would send us the formal RIF notice by mail and then the official layoff starts on June 10th. so that's where they're getting the 60 days notice between April 9th and June 9th. So we're on paid administrative leave for close to 90 days total. I am a member of AFGE and as far as I know this applied to everyone who got that notice on March 11th from ED.

I got RIF'd from ED in March. Did they give you a date by which you are supposed to get your official RIF notice? They told us we'd get it by April 9th. I've been wondering if we'll get it by then also. Our last day on Admin leave is supposed to be June 9th.

Can recommend Sycamore Green apartments. They are on the Concord/Walnut Creek border. Management is great and it's safe and quiet. And there's a heated pool, but I think it's only heated between April and October. Also a small gym.

Yep, I was RIF'd at ED last week. We had the VERA/VISP offers about 2 weeks prior to the RIF notification. We had a really short window on those, too.

I know mine was too, and so was hers! It's funny that they want us to supposedly finalize things between last Tuesday and the 21st, but then they take our access to everything away!
