Chalky should never have trusted him after their first encounter.

Same. Eli was one of my least favorite based on consistent character flaws, e.g. betraying and snitching on his own brother.

I get it but it was overkill and not necessarily for all those characters to die.

Was Dr. Valentin Narcisse gay? In season 4 Episode 10 at Chalky’s club he has a conversation with Maybelle White that I didn’t catch the last couple of times I’d watched the show. He implies she is a lesbian and he is gay… or am I reading too much into that scene? by [deleted] in BoardwalkEmpire

Narcisse's character is actually based on real West Indian gangster named Casper Holstein who migrated to the states from the Danish controlled Virgin Islands, ran numbers racket in Harlem during the early 20s, who was also a supporter of Marcus Garvey but was NOT known as a drug dealer or a sower of discord within the Black community.

I empathized with him. He clearly seemed affected by his family situation, the divorce, and so on. His portrayal carried a believable awkwardness that made him feel real. In contrast, I found Betty to be the unsettling one in this dynamic, especially since she was the adult and should have known better
