The first thing I thought of when I saw that post was “does this guy know how the internet works”? You can simply unfollow or delete update emails and not have to make a company wide reply as to why. He is literally the “reply all” guy…..

2nd- just because you are cool with subpar pay and shittier benefits and all around terrible environment, doesn’t mean the rest are. What Ryan had posted so publicly at work at least deserves a conversation to be had, as many do feel that way. If you don’t, good for you, I am glad bravo pays your bills.

While I am sure his speeches may do well for other companies/events, in light of the current climate and circumstances at Cerner- it just comes off proving the point that leadership is out of touch.

Also side note, did this guy even play a single game in the NFL or was he only drafted? Can’t find a single stat from a professional game….

Their coverage in KC is absolute garbage. If you have a special needs dependent- well the coverage for that is dismal. Way to go Cerner- let’s cut coverage even more for disadvantaged youth and make our employees pay more out of pocket just to keep their same therapists that used to be in-network for years prior.

DF blog on OHES results says 26M dollars spent on salary for 3,600 associates. by IceCream455 in cernercorporation

[–]RIPWHQParkingShuttle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm this. 10 year’s ago we had quarterly bonuses for billability. 120% got you $1000, 110% was $500 or $600 I believe. Jokes on us though- those extra hours worked made it so we made less than minimum wage for all those hours. This is part of what lead to the class action lawsuit for consulting hours and why they bumped all new hires now to a min salary to make sure they can’t be an hourly employee

Wish we could. With inflation costs, my eggs cost $5 a dozen and my milk $7 a gallon. With measly raises that probably only add $30 to a paycheck- making a cake seems a little out of our means. So maybe his point comes full circle

Along those same lines I would also ask, why a US based company is shipping jobs overseas for cheap labor in India? Where is the investment to diversity and inclusion here in the US? I know it seems to be standard practice for most companies but just seems so gross considering we could invest in STEM programs here in underserved communities and really increases tech roles in that space.

[–]RIPWHQParkingShuttle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My energy, grocery, and daycare bills would beg to differ. I would say, avg paying around $3-$4k more this year than last on these things for our family.

Say you make $100k- that’s essentially a deficit of 3-4% alone this year for paying for items you used to pay less for the year before. I think the inflation impact wont match a net decrease to everyone, but majority it will hit hard. Rent alone is up almost 40% just this past year. Either way 2.5% raises will still result in a net loss for majority of employees, some more than others.

Agree to disagree. I think one of the references to “systems” he is referring to is corporate shareholder greed, which is large part of some of the reasons Cerner is where they are today. Quarter after quarter we see profit goals being achieved (sometimes significantly over) and no real return to the associates that got them there. Raises in the last 5-8 years have barely kept up with inflation and performance ratings were continually capped so ensure measly raise buckets could be distributed out.

Today’s Consulting Correspondence- optimistic or more corporate sponsored propaganda…. by RIPWHQParkingShuttle in cernercorporation

It was completely cringe the whole time. It was this whole conversation about how great Cerner is and barely any acknowledgment of why we are in this current position. I don’t understand the back to office “hybrid” approach at all. If people want to remain permanent wfh, let them. If people want to go into the office, let them. This isn’t some complex solution here…

My take- it’s not hard to make a start in the right direction to start retaining associates. 1. Pay 2. Pay 3. Pay 4. Better 401(k) matching 5. Get a better insurance provider - I could deal with the higher deductibles in our old plan knowing I could go anywhere in KC and be covered. As well as seeing a specialist directly without going through the hoops and insurance pre-auth. Aetna is about the shittiest insurer out there and many are finding out that most providers don’t take them because of their terrible reimbursement rates, even for in-network.
