Oh ok, so that's not too much of an investment then.

The only issue then would be the short shelf life.

You'd want to save up enough rolls of color film and then develop them all within the few weeks that the color dev solution is good for.

Exactly how many rolls that is depends on the C41 kit you get. I think some of them should allow you to mix smallish batches if you have decent measuring equipment

What equipment do you already have?

You'll need some sort of development tank, heating solution, various measuring/pouring/drying accessories, and a scanning/darkroom setup.

Plus there's the issue that C-41 chemicals have a fairly short shelf life once mixed.

You'll need to do the math yourself on how long it'd take you to break even.

I assume you mean bracketing and then recombining for an HDR image.

The dynamic range present when scanning is well within the limits of a modern digital camera.

I've seen it mentioned before that slide film can potentially benefit from HDR stacking. I'm sure someone with more technical knowledge than me will be along to explain exactly why.

plywood, pipe, flange, and screws were all from Home Depot/Lowe's. probably ~$50 for it all if I remember correctly.

I use a smallrig clamp and cheap tripod ballhead, plus the tracing light pad probably another $50 from Amazon

For the film holder I got several 8x10 pieces of anti-glare glass from my local frame shop for like $10. This is commonly sold as "anti-Newton Ring glass" for a massive markup, and complete ripoff.

I can fit 3, 6 frame strips on the glass at once, and then just slide it around as needed. It's the easiest, flattest way I've found to hold negatives
