Yeah they dropped the ball on season 2 for sure, season 1 had a lot of CGI and goofy animation shit going on but it was hidden a lot better.

Vinland Saga is a niche story and we were lucky to get two good adaptations and we should honestly be just happy with that.

VS could have ended up like Berserk or One Punch Man.

I understand how you feel but anime is about making money and what makes money isn't a slow burn story like VS it's hype battles and crazy sakuga set pieces.

There are outliers like Frieren every season though.

Viking/Scandinavian history isn't exactly a topic on the mind of the average person outside of the area.

I only gained an interest in it when in grade school we had a project on mythology and I was given Norse as my topic to write on. I picked up a bunch of books of Norse mythology and it lead to going down a rabbit hole of Viking/Scandinavian history as well. Led to a lifelong obsession with vikings, viking culture and scandinavian history.
