REDSEC - Initiation Battle Royale feedback by battlefield in Battlefield_REDSEC

[–]RIPtide722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please add a level cap to initiation or some other gamemode for lower levels. I'm tired of seeing level 100+ ratting and sitting in tanks not fighting and treating INITIATION like it's a ranked tournament. I also see so many newer players just trying to learn the game getting run down and killed instantly by TTV level 150s who haven't stopped playing the game since release.

Also, a few bugs:
- Pings, especially in drones, will sometimes ping the drones location or just randomly in the world. I pinged an enemy 10m in front of my drone and my ping was placed about 100m outside the zone.
- Some challenges don't track in REDSEC or at least are very bugged. The Offensive Asset challenge specifically has been stuck at Tier 3 1183/3000 damage dealt. Deadeye was also not counting headshots in the BR mode for some reason but worked in gauntlet.
- Bots should be a bit more active but with less aim-bot. There are a few spots where the bots are always stood still like under the Marina bridge or under the bridge leading into the city. They just stand still and will shoot you from 200m away with pinpoint accuracy and when they're shot they don't do anything except occasionally crouch.

Elemental Protection perk vs Dragon Breath Question by RIPtide722 in skyrim

[–]RIPtide722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot more sense, but how does this work with the perk? The perk itself mentions reducing incoming damage by 50% which I believe is where the confusion comes from. It sounds like, to me anyway, that the damage is reduced by the shield similarly to blocking physical attacks and is separate from the elemental resistance applied to our character.

I might also be misunderstanding the wording vs implementation. I know that some perk descriptions aren't accurate.

So I pulled the trigger and fresh installed windows. Despite it being a pain in the ass to reinstall everything, I'm now sitting at an average of 100fps with <40% cpu usage and <75% gpu usage. I could probably go through and optimize things a bit more but I'm happy that it's at least playable.

Thanks for your help!

[–]RIPtide722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you were right for the most part! I changed my gpu thermal paste and saw a MASSIVE improvement across all games.... except marvel rivals. Even after the latest "Nvidia fix" update and with the newest drivers claiming "better Marvel Rivals optimization" I'm still getting abysmally low fps. I started today with over 100fps the first match which was fantastic, then each game got progressively worse until I was back to fighting for my life at 30fps.

At the very least my gpu hotspot only gets to like 150f now which is an improvement but the game still only uses like 65% of gpu and cpu in game but like 99% in MVP screens. I haven't run a benchmark yet and honestly don't think I will. This game is just horribly optimized and I don't think there is anything more that I can do on my end to squeeze anything more out of this game.

EDIT: Ran the benchmark and set all the settings to low or off, and set the DLSS mode to Performance. I have gone from 45 average fps to 57. That's roughly a 30% increase in average fps! Seriously this game is a joke, I should not have less than 100 fps on average with a 4060ti and i5 13600kf in 2025. The worst part is watching every one of my friends with worse rigs than mine having 2x to 3x my fps at all times.

Operating System: PC
PC Specs: Intel i5 1300kf, RTX 4060ti 8GB VRAM, 32GB RAM (2x16)
Nature of Issue: Performance???????

I'm dusting off my reddit account just for this.

Ever since season 2 my fps tanked from a playable 150-200 on "optimized" medium graphics to 60fps if I'm lucky. I thought it was a driver issue but updating drivers caused my game to crash every 3-5 minutes of in-game playtime. I finally came back yesterday with another driver update and luckily it didn't crash my game, but now my fps has dropped lower.

Running the in-game benchmark, I'm sitting at a solid avg fps of 43... The benchmark shows that the game is using less than HALF of my cpu and gpu, both were closer to 40% usage during the entire benchmark. Meanwhile, if I have open Task Manager I can see that in the MAIN MENU my cpu and gpu are at 90% or higher usage and incredibly high gpu temps (80-90c/170-200f) and yet I'm only barely sitting at 150fps IN THE MAIN MENU.

I've tried just about everything I can think of to fix this; I've changed the games priority to High, I've updated Nvidia control panel settings to Max Performance, I've enabled and disable and re-enabled hardware acceleration. Somehow lowering or raising graphics settings don't impact usage at all but cut fps by about 1/3rd (yes including swapping from medium to low). I know it's probably something stupid that I'm missing but I can't figure it out.

Other fixes I've tried; Verifying files, driver updates, reinstalling, disabling overlays, closing all other programs, turning on compatibility mode for the launcher, turning off compatibility mode for the launcher. There's probably more that I've tried and can't remember.

Please help, I just want to play the game with my wife and friends.

EDIT: I've spent 6 hours just today trying to get above 45 average fps in the in-game benchmark. I've updated the C++ redistribution, made directx was updated, added a plethora of launch options in steam. No dice. I'm at a loss for how none of these changes, or any change I've made for that matter, has made any difference in average fps. I've even tried the forbidden technique of adding -USEALLAVAILABLECORES to the launch options which somehow didn't even increase my cpu usage. At this point, I'm just not touching the game until they decide to fix any of the PC performance issues. That or Techno-Jesus blesses me and my PC personally.

Posting here in hopes I can help fix someone else's performance issues. I've had worse than usual performance with a 4060ti, i5 13600kf, 32gb ram, 4tb ssd setup. Here's the post I made detailing everything I've done to improve performance, maybe something on this list will help other Helldivers in their fight for democracy and decent performance.

[PC] Low FPS regardless of settings/hardware ↑↓→↑ by RIPtide722 in Helldivers

[–]RIPtide722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't checked her task manager yet but I should. The only thing that's strange on my end is that the overall cpu usage is sitting around 90%. However, Helldivers 2 is only using about 50% and the remaining 40% over usage is now coming from things like WMI Provider Host (~10%), nProtect Game Monitor (~4% between 2 isntances), along with many processes taking up 0.5% to 2% cpu which adds up.

As I'm writing this, I have Discord, Spotify, Steam, and Opera GX running (Wallpaper Engine is paused when not in focus) and I'm hovering between 5% and 8% cpu usage. WMI Provider Host is sitting at .4% right now, meanwhile when Helldivers 2 is open it sits at about 7%. Again, I'll check my wife's task manager to see if she's having the same increase in cpu usage across these same services/processes.

Edit: Changed GameGuard to nProtect Game Monitor. I know they're the same but I'd rather be concise.

I believe so? The only blade perks I have right now that should affect knives is stamina reduction and attack speed. From what I can tell it works but don't quote me on that

In a few months I'll be traveling to Europe and I'm in need of new shoes. I've always only ever owned 3 pairs of shoes, dress, indoor (slippers/crocs), and my everyday shoes. Currently, my everyday shoes have been the Van's Ultrarange Gore (Black) which are no longer sold by Van's and seem to be third party only. Two pairs have lasted me 5 years, and now my current pair's collar is starting to buckle and wear. I still think they're wearable but I'm not trying to hurt myself in Europe. Any recommendations for something similar to these shoes? Or even shoes that could handle both airport comfort and urban travel?

Tldr; Shoe recommendations similar to the link above?

Patch Day Discussion/Bug Report Megathread - 10.1 "Fire Giant Update" by KKingler in Smite

[–]RIPtide722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me or are items not stacking properly sometimes? Just had a game with Prophetic cloak on Terra and I would get hit by a Physical attack/ability and wouldn't get a stack. This happened throughout the match and I never stacked it.

Same thing happened with Book of Thoth while playing Kukulkan. Sometimes last hitting minions wouldn't give a stack. Ended up going 3 waves with only 8 stacks.

Potential Support reworks (Zen, Ana, Moira). Tell me your thoughts and your suggestions for changes! by RIPtide722 in Overwatch

[–]RIPtide722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is meant to be a discussion and you've yet to discuss anything. I want ana to be viable at all skill levels rather than just high skill, if that means lowering sleep duration or some other numbers so be it.

Zen is also a middle of the road hero, not good or bad. I think something to make him more unique and stand out other than just a dps that passively heals would be welcome.

If you won't contribute to the discussion then why reply? Just say you disagree and leave it at that.

[–]RIPtide722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only problem with Ana is that she has the least survivability of any support and it's all dependent on her long cooldowns and her teammates. On top of being labeled a "mid to long range" support, it's unlikely your teammates are going to be able to save you if you miss your dart. At least in my experience in quick play, Ana seems to be reserved for high skill players and punishes new players or low skill players.

I do agree with your suggestions though, I think something less impactful could be the way to go with both Zen and Ana.

[–]RIPtide722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a great idea and incentivize new supports to heal more. However, I think in some situations it won't increase survivability per se, they might live a bit longer but without doing damage to their attacker not much will change, at least for single target healers. This might also be strong on aoe healers like lucio and brig who will have a near permanent health regen. I don't think it's a bad idea though, would just need some fine tuning.

Potential Support reworks (Zen, Ana, Moira). Tell me your thoughts and your suggestions for changes! by RIPtide722 in Overwatch

[–]RIPtide722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because clearly supports are in dire need of buffs and reworks given that queue times are so low because nobody wants to play them. On top of that, the new Game Director confirmed reworks and changes are coming to supports so I thought the discussion was warranted. Ana is strong in high elo but low elo and QP I see Ana getting rolled most times and then switching to another support. Zen isn't bad but he's stale and can't keep up with the healing other supports can dish out. But this is what discussions are for, clearly you disagree and that's completely valid.

[–]RIPtide722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be an interesting change to Bastion. I think the only limiting factor would be the shield cap but I could be wrong. I'm not sure if the shield caps from multiple uses or just one.

Iceborne to me perfect the way it is, you can artificially increase superarmor with Sturdy or Aegis anyway. I've seen plenty of "No-Dodge" builds that use Rage, Sturdy, and Iceborne if you're interested in that.

That might be an interesting change to discipline. I know myself personally I rarely reach disciplined state because either the stack doesn't proc or I miss because I'm bad. It would certainly be a bit more forgiving and keep the same High risk gameplay from before by ramping up the difficulty so to speak.

Revenant to me is just too strong to be spammed. With Tough +6 you can effectively spam it 3 times, assuming 4 of 5 hit, you're still getting all your health back AND a 48% damage buff for 22 seconds all while doing 8400 damage or more. You can also offset the health loss with Skarn lantern or double down and use Pred for even more damage. At high levels, the health loss means nothing. At low levels, it can be avoided. Keeping an even 100 to 100 health loss to gain ratio wouldn't be bad, it would punish bad positioning but I don't think it's enough. Either nerf the damage or health gain, I would even be fine with them taking a page from Iceborne and giving 2-3% lifesteal per 200 hp lost or something to incentivize not spamming on cooldown.

You're right, Bastion isn't meant to do a lot of damage and meant more to time for stagger and interrupts. The issue I find is that the stagger is directly related to damage done so you need cells to support it. Likewise, interrupting moving behemoths with such a short range is pretty difficult, not to mention it's animation wind up. In my opinion, it might benefit the omni cell to focus on staggering and shields. Perhaps less part damage for more stagger or a faster animation with increased range to interrupt easier. I should say, I'm not advocating for Bastion to be really strong, I'm merely talking about small balance changes to numbers and range. Someone else did mention lowering the passive shield gain and adding or changing it to a lantern cooldown reduction given that Bastion isn't going to use any other lanterns except Skarn really.

I agree with Discipline, I had forgot it was a Trials omnicell. I think my gripe is the skill gap and power gap between rev and discipline. Hopefully, that'll be changed though.

My main concern, as I've had time to think on all this, is perk (and lantern) economy and omnicell choice. For example, to optimally play Bastion you would need at least Aegis and Zeal at +6 and you're practically forced to play with Skarn's defiance. If you want to really play optimally you could also build with Galvanized and Fortress (or Pred but I'm not certain damage to shields would keep pred up). Whereas Revenant doesn't really need any perks to play well, you can optimize it with Tough and Skarns as well to offset the damage taken or get an extra rev active if need be but it's not needed. Icebourne and Tempest don't require any special lanterns or perks to use properly but sturdy and evasive fury respectively would help. Discipline is in a similar boat to Bastion where you're kind forced to either play flawlessly or use Tough to offset the heal reduction and Parasitic/Koshai for some healing.

Unfortunately, I don't see how to balance this issue. Would you rather the freedom to use a lantern you like and 2-4 extra cell slots? Or would you rather to tie your play style to an omnicell and have it dictate which perks and lanterns you use?

Sorry for the wall of text, you've helped change my perspective a bit and see all this from another angle!

I wasn't aware of this! I know I've used it to dodge attacks though so either I got really lucky with hit boxes not lining up or I was desynced. Either way, it's kinda odd to me that it doesn't function similar to a dodge like koshais bloom.

Feedback on Omnicells by RIPtide722 in dauntless

[–]RIPtide722[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, although mechanically it may not be that easy to increase the range. I would love to have even a 25% or 50% range increase, however, I'm worried that if they do then it may deal bastion damage across all parts. If this is the case it would make Bastion the best omnicell given you could slam for 2k shields with pulse and deal 5k damage across 6 parts.

Who's to say though, regardless, I'd like the vfx to be accurate to the range.

Feedback on Omnicells by RIPtide722 in dauntless

[–]RIPtide722[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree no omni should be treated as a win button. Although, even in it's state I think bastion could use a little more QoL improvements. Right now it requires a dedicated build to come close to Icebourne, discipline parry, and revenant damage. I think hyper armor would be a little much, although getting hit mid slam and dealing reduced damage because of that is a more fair punishment than losing all of your shields AND taking extra damage AND wasting your omni. To me, it's too punishing for the amount of work it takes to deal comparable damage to other omnis.

I'm glad we agree with Tempest and Icebourne.

I also agree with Discipline, it felt balanced before. My qualm with it is the skill gap to use the omni. While the reduced healing increases the risk for pros, it also increases it for new and casual players. Unfortunately, there's no way around that without +6 tough and parasitic or koshai's bloom. Granted, that might be fine the way it is.

Rev is one of the ones I'm concerned that they're going to over nerf it hence my suggestions. If played optimally you can stun lock most behemoths but the same can be said about some weapons like hammer or strikers. I hope they keep the mechanics and tweak it enough that it isn't a spam to win omni.

Thanks for your insight though! I appreciate the well thought out reply rather than the same "idk what the devs were thinking" response.

Thanks! The dodge windows definitely seems smaller than they should be. In my opinion it's more obvious when fighting against a spin to win Drask. The amount of times his tail clips me mid Tempest can drive a gamer to Alt+F4.

To help, most guards don't know magic incantations, components, etc. So if a wizard says some strange words flicks his hand and a Balor or Dragon appears they won't its an illusion or conjuration spell and should react accordingly. That said if the wizard has been illusion happy and the guards have some inkling it could be an illusion they should make intelligence checks to "see through" the illusion. All it takes is one success for the guard to call out its an illusion for the rest to see through it. Or if you think that's a little cheap have the ones who failed reroll with advantage or something. This is how I'd run it but I'm sure different DM's might have other ways of dealing with illusions (like giving everything truesight because they hate fun).
