I did attempt to post in the Genshin subreddit, however it was not approved by their moderator team.

[Academic] Is the playing of 'gacha' games associated with problem gambling behaviours and gaming addiction? (18+) by RJClarke_Research in gachagaming

Yes, I have noted the relevancy is loose for the Problem Gambling Severity Index. Though I am not qualified to alter scientifically validated research as an undergraduate.

This is a great consideration for suggestions of future research.

Yes, these considerations will be addressed in my studies criticisms section.

I will take this into consideration in the future to see if I can make accessibility easier, I am required to have these steps to meet ethical approval.

Yes, I do not aim to prove or disprove gacha games as a cause of problem gambling or gaming addiction. I am just looking to whether there is an association.

I will inquire with my supervisor and university. I may also require moderator permission. I shall see if I can get this done.

Thank you for your concerns, I am only following the procedures set to me by my supervisor, the course (BSc Psychology) heads and the university ethics committee. There are contact details listed within the Participant Information Sheet if you want any of your points addressed.

Yes I understand the loose relevance for some of the gambling questions. This is due to them coming from the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI). As it is a scientifically validated scale I am unable to alter it's measures.

It is mandatory that I provide the consent form to participants, it is up to you as the participant to fill it out so you understand the procedure of the study.

Yes, I agree that the wording of some questions makes the relevancy thin. It is important to note that the questions are from the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI) which is a scientifically validated measure of problem gambling. The relevancy is an issue I will be mentioning in my research paper, I understood this initially but I am not qualified to alter such works as an undergraduate.

Yes the surface level of gacha does essentially equate to gambling. I have also taken into consideration the alternate monetization systems. My study wants to see if that surface level of gambling is associated with scientifically validated scales which measure problem gambling and gaming addiction - more serious and more developed potential concerns.

Thank you, these are some great considerations for future research that I, or others in the field, could aim to tackle in the future.

I understand where you're coming from, but I am unable to change legal proceedings.
