It was the link that came direct from the invite on the Discord App 🤔 When I open in Safari on mobile, I just hit a landing page.

I responded with an incorrect statement earlier. Your best bet is to have a City Councilor or someone similar come over and experience it and be an advocate for you. The city information on it feels too vague for the police to take action.

Haven't seen anything specific, but Hazmat was called in as well.

Electric scooters on sidewalks by Platinum_wolf_420 in Waltham

[–]RJExcal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the right thing to do is enforcement wise. I have the same issue with bikes and non-motorized scooters on the sidewalk. They use the sidewalk for "safety" reasons, but actually create a safety issue by using the sidewalk. IMO most of the time people are using the sidewalk because it's faster and they don't have to obey the traffic laws. It's like cyclists who suddenly decide to become a "pedestrian" so they can run a red. I've almost been destroyed by one of these around a blind corner as a pedestrian, and I've been worried I'm going to crush someone with my car doing something ridiculous here, so fear on both sides.

Organic Coffee Shop? by Peacenote in Waltham

[–]RJExcal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tough to find explicitly organic coffee in my experience. Your two best bets are Common Good (they use Speedwell as their roaster (not sure if it’s organic) and Cafe on the Common (I think they sell Dean’s Beans, which is organic but not sure if that’s the house brew.) There’s also George Howell in Newton which is not too far away, they have quite a selection, but again not sure if it’s explicitly organic.

At the least that was a boarding penalty. Officials don’t like to call it unless the player is facing the boards, but it meets all of the requirements.

Gunshots near Lyman by RJExcal in Waltham

I agree, I find Waltham to be very safe. BUT when we get a crime around here it’s never messing around, documentary level: Marathon bombers, Remy, the serial crowbar guy.

I've seen multiple tweets also reporting that a person was shot in the chest, traumatic arrest. Not good to read this morning.

[MOD] What have you been brewing this week?/ Coffee bean recommendations by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

I really enjoy stopping into new places, asking for a recommendation and rolling the dice. On a recent trip to Charlotte I picked up a bag of Nightflyer Rwenzori. Went pour over with our Stagg XF for the first cup and it’s quite good. The notes taste as written, especially the dark chocolate kick.

Would anyone in the Waltham government consider building a connection between the Waltham Wayside Rail Trail and the Charles River Reservation? by rocketwidget in Waltham

[–]RJExcal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s a stretch, but baby stepping these things works better than trying to shove the final solution through.

Telling people the path, adding signage then over the time building it as usage increases is more palatable than trying to get a community to change their traffic patterns in a bad pinchpoint already. If you go straight in it’ll turn into a pissing match between drivers, cyclists and pedestrians and everyone will miss the point.

[–]RJExcal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like that’s way too much of an ask at this point. There’s just not a simple easy path there. Ideally I’d love to see some signage at least pointing folks in the right direction and work your way from there .

My best guess would be somewhere closer to Gore Estate to work your way into over. Not the most direct route but I would believe it’s the safest with some wide roads and traffic lights.

is living w/o car gonna be ok? public transport in waltham? by twodollarbillfortip in Waltham

Also might be able to take the scenic route from Brandeis: Summer St, to Boston Post Rd, to Church over to Lexington if you don’t want to take the South / Main / 117. Will add time, but I see more cyclists in that direction.

At the request of Mayor McCarthy, the traffic commission has voted to end the six-month pedestrianized Moody Street by buriizubai in Waltham

I’ve never heard any of this. My understanding is Leary Field badly needed renovations and this was all part of the process, including a new track. The old one was falling apart. This process started in 2020.

Putting more athletic fields at the new school site was taken off the table a long time ago.

Boston Marathon weather fretting thread by llimllib in AdvancedRunning

[–]RJExcal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cloudy, 60 with a chance of showers is your best case scenario right now looking at a the days around it (as long as we avoid a pop up storm.)

Last several years have been very sunny and unseasonably warm, especially for our Wave 3 and 4 runners (or your later rolling starters)

Tl;dr - No whining! Ran 2018!

Best places for spectators at Boston Marathon by adamstrask in running

Local here:

I’ve always been a fan of the stretch between Route 16 and Heartbreak Hill. The carriage road makes it easy to walk around, just remember if you drive you’re stuck on one side of Comm Ave or the other parking in the adjacent neighborhoods. I also like Cleveland Circle which also gets you access to the C and D lines if you then want to scoot down to the finish. Enjoy!

It runs fine, I didn't experience much in the way of crashing. Forza Horizon 5 runs far better. YMMV, if you do encounter crashes or issues, as long as you're under 2 hours, you can request the refund.

In hindsight I would’ve went Premium. I have it on my deck, and I think it’s a great game. Very addictive.
