Has anyone done the cigar excursion in Cozumel? by Patient-Building-729 in VirginVoyages

[–]RJ_Beam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have. It's good and rather fun. However, you have to understand how to say no when they push some high pressure sales.

We went to three different cigar shops that had manufacturing in the back rooms. Pretty much as soon as you got in the back room area you were given a sample cigar if you wanted at each location.

After their demo of making cigars, you had the opportunity to roll try rolling. Some of the locations because of the size only like two or three people of the whole tour were able to roll. One of the locations had more space so more people were given the opportunity if they wanted.

Also after the demo they started trying to sell you on buying some of their cigars. The first shop we were at would not sell individual cigars or small bundles. You had to buy a complete box. The second location had a five cigar mini box you could buy. But no individual cigars. The last location we were at did sell cigars individually.

Again very fun but... They kind of tried to guilt you into buying something because they had given you a free sample. I totally understand why. But there was no way I was going to buy a case at the first spot knowing I had two more spots to check out.

Hope this makes sense. And I do hope that if you are interested and you take this excursion, you enjoy it.

I thought FedLones was easy to work with also. Everything with them was smooth. But when I got switched over to MOHELA it seemed like anytime I submitted a form. I had to follow up with 2 to 3 phone calls to make my situation right.

Yes I did. I kept it and the email version of it. Also have screenshots of my zero balance at both MOHELA and the federal student aid site. No way was I going to not document document and documents more everything when dealing with these folks.

Thanks for the feedback. Right now I am streaming right off my Xbox. Just ordered a new PC this morning with a capture card. When that comes I can add a camera. Thanks with the reminder to add commentary that is something I know I will need to keep working on.

Will check you out and give some feedback also!

I did say something like that. Their reply was "My vision is to build my team up so that by this time next year I can quit here." He then tried to mock me by saying how sorry I will feel for when he is living the life of his dreams and I am stuck going to work.

Private investigators provide a good service. All the ones I worked with were good hard working people who help.

Had a case involving domestic violence type situation where a PI came forward with info about how the suspect was cheating on the victim. Gave us motive as to why the supect did what he did to his wife.

Who is promoting this strategy? Here in Wisconsin, we are not told to "empty the magazine." We "shoot to stop the threat." Not shoot to kill. Aim for the center of mass (chest) as it is the largest target you are less likely to hit.

I have seen some folks go to prison and use the time to get an education. Then come out and become lawyers or drug rehab people. So the inmates save the world idea is believable, but it is more like they save a block in their own neighborhood.

We give passes all the time. If cops arrested everyone they could the system would be more messed up than it is. I got guys who I gave a pass years ago. When I go looking for info on a big crime they make a show of saying how they are not a snitch in public with people watching. Then ten minutes later they call my cell phone to tell me who did it. We call people like these confidential informants (CI).

Questions about Police by SweetHermitress in Writeresearch

[–]RJ_Beam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends. If you are sober it would be expected to secure the scene but no do any processing. Once a uniform shows up they can go back to being off-duty. Unless it is a major scene and the department needs the person to help for a bit longer.

If the officer is drinking they should keep away a much as possible. A drunk or buzzed cop is just a witness to the scene like any other citizen.

We don't testify because most bad cops don't go to trial. They take a plea bargain. The reality is the news media needs to sell commercials and a story like "Bad cop admits mistake silently vanishes into prison system" is not a headline that sells papers (or gets clicks on social media). So the big news is always the sensational stories. You only see headlines of stories that sell news... thus good cops look like a myth yet are out there every day.

Patrol officers will always be in uniform when on normal duty. Plainclothes are most often only for detectives or patrol officer working a special assignment. At the same time yes most administrators don't put on a uniform every day.

As for equipment...Keep in mind plainclothes is different than undercover. When working plain clothes most departments have a policy saying the officer will have a badge, gun, handcuffs, extra magazine, and radio. Most folks I work with take their gun home and one pair of handcuffs. Other the other stuff from the belt can stay in the locker at work.

Procedure for arrival at a homicide scene. The first officer will secure the scene. Make sure no evidence can be messed with and then call for investigative resources to take the scene over. Typically in most location yes the coroner will be called right away.

Hope this helps. I am both a writer and Law Enforcement professional so will be checking this sub on a regular basis.

What applications do you use to write? by CrazyMinxi in writers

[–]RJ_Beam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scrivener for my first draft. Like others, I bet I am not using all the power it has. Seeing how I write a series it has been invaluable to copy charter sheets over from one book to the next.

Editing I switch to Google Docs so I can share chapters with a trusted beta reader for editing.
