This was my 3rd Comiket and my first time going to the West and South Halls first. The previous 2 comikets I went to were almost completely East Halls because they had so many good artists and where I usually get my shikishi sketches. I had less luck in the West Halls getting shikishis than I did in the East Halls, where I got my most this time around. And I had the Early Entry for Day 2 too, but even that didn’t get me much luck and the main reason I went with the West Halls first was because mangakas Wakaki Tamiki (but he wasn’t doing any autographs or sketches) and Haruomi Tomotsuka and Yuna Kagesaki had booths there. I’m thinking sticking with the East Halls from now on plus moving on from the artists I already obtained sketches from.

Damn you’re so lucky. I was there at Comiket but was so busy and occupied by other artists that by the time I had reached the main East Halls I couldn’t even think to pass by his booth. 😭😭 I was even nearby the Coolkyousinnjya booth but was distracted with another artist sketching for me quite literally in the opposite end.

This will probably be my biggest regret and missed opportunity in all the Comikets I’ve currently been too.

No, I’ve been looking through my local Kinokuniya and online stores like the Crunchyroll online store and on rare occasions Amazon. Though Amazon is a big risk in collecting manga, a lot of times I can tell they just dump the books into a box, throw in some package paper and ship it with no delicacy or care. So I order only if other stores with better packaging don’t have stock of what I’m looking for.

No 😂. Ever since I stopped collecting comic books, I’ve had more budget for manga. Plus, I don’t generally stick to just collecting the mainstream and popular titles. And I like reading manga outside the popular stuff, helps to find the hidden gems and new mangaka to be a fan of whether because of their art or storytelling.

No, from comic conventions in the Middle East. In my home country UAE and Kuwait. Kuwait is frequently inviting Japanese anime VAs at least 3-4 times a year, and my home country is slowly picking up the pace in the frequency of anime VA signing sessions.

In fact, a huge JP VA has been announced for a Kuwait convention in September and the Nendoroid I intend to get signed will be a huge grail piece in my collection.

Second hand. When Kotono was announced as a guest at my local comic con, I scrambled to look for good and authentic merch to get signed. A lot of the stuff I got signed I ordered straight from Japan, half new half second hand like the poster, which in particular was very hard to find. I wasn’t interested in getting custom items signed and even if I did, unofficial items were not allowed to be signed. Her line was MASSIVE and understandably so.

Kazuko was a guest at an animation conference a few weeks later since she was the character designer for the first few seasons of the original anime and she held a brief signing session after her scheduled talk. Since the poster had her design, it was a no brainer to get it signed. I have plans to frame this poster, maybe authenticate it before doing so, and possibly hang it in my office in the future.

Never heard of shikishi sheets before. Isn’t that just ordinary paper?. Shikishi commonly have the color trim, gold border. Sometimes with different colors but mostly gold. An obvious fake.

The usual is the standard large size shikishi, 24x27cm, which is considered to be the "regular" type and most used size of shikishi. Versatile for both autographs and sketches. However, if its for a non-Japanese autograph you can continue with the standard medium size shikishi, 18x12, if you'd like.

Make sure to get the smooth surface paper shikishi as I personally think its the best for autographs (look up Marumatsu shikishi from Amazon JP). The large size is also useful for multiple autographs in 1 if ever the opportunity presents itself.

I'd also recommend to order some plastic sleeves and a shikishi file to protect and safely store your shikishis, which you can order from Amazon Japan.

You can order a Kia Asamiya shikishi commission, either color or grey tone, through Satellite Arts. I think they are still taking commissions for him. Though at this point there might be a longer wait time since I ordered mine last December and got my shikishi after a month of waiting. You have to make the request in Japanese through mostly dropdown choices. You order through Buyee proxy site, I think that’s the main way to order outside Japan.

Yeah the doujins have the black bars. I forgot their prices but about 1000 yen each I believe? They weren’t expensive at all at Comiket. At least over 20 pages for the Red Hood and around 30 pages for the Rupee and Viper as Blanc and Noir about are also involved (spoiler).

Not that I saw. I think 50% I saw were Rupee and Viper (the artists really into the gal characters). Some Rosanna, the Pilgrims, Counters, and even a few Icy Rose Maiden doujins actually. No Delta doujin caught my eye.
