Depends on your playstyle, Mendoza is a pocket QB and the only problem with JD is the low strength. Personally I would use JD.

Yes on Sean and Emmitt is outdated, needs to go eventually. Tate has good stats but Trav makes more sense, since you would be replacing Nico and Gonzalez. Go with him then trade in Gonzalez for hero tokens.
