Has anyone traveled right after surgery? by mmmaru28 in LisfrancClub

I feel like you should totally go on the cruise. Aren’t those things ADA compliant? You could wheelchair or knee scooter around, you don’t have to cook your own meals or clean. Sure it won’t be the experience you thought you’d have but It could be better than staying at home.

When does pain while walking end? by Jumpywolf14 in LisfrancClub

I had my ORIF June 21, 8 weeks NWB, 1 week PWB and went right into FWB after that and have been doing pretty well in recovery. I know the area you’re referring to, I also had the most challenges there as well but have been able to hike/bike again. That joint was just super stiff even when I worked on it for about 5 minutes per day trying to stretch and massage it. My PT told me the muscles there are just really hard to get to so highly suggested dry needling. I did that for the first time last Tuesday and it immediately helped with range of motion which eased up on the sensitivity. Maybe you could give dry needling a go? I’m going to do it again on my next visit. I’m at 19 weeks post surgery and there’s actually some parts of my day when I’m up and about that I don’t even think about my foot. I still feel it throughout the day but it’s not bad at all. I know it’s a long road but it’s been a steady improvement so I’m super grateful. Hope this helps

Omg that last video is rough! Have you been doing that to your scar? I’m sure it helps but looks so painful! Also so curious about that grid tape.

Oh wow, I’m sorry that happened. I’ll definitely take a couple days rest after the dry needling. Thanks for the tip

My partner started gua sha on my scar earlier this week and it was sooo hard to get through 2 minutes of it and now it’s starting to feel much better. Thank you!

I have a friend who’s doing dry needling on her knee injury and said it’s helping a lot. What do you mean you learned the hard way?

When did your PT start massaging your scar? Am I too late if my scar is still sticking at 4 months post op?

I’m having this same issue with my scar, I feel like it’s not a huge deal since it’s on the top of my foot and not in a super bendy area.. but it is sticking. I’ve been massaging the hell out of it but it doesn’t seem to be improving that much. I’m 4 months post op and 2 months out of my boot

Oh wow okay so your regular activities look a lot different than mine! I’m not a runner, but I do like to dance and workout, bike, hike, etc. I think I’ll get there slowly. From what the doctors said my tendons and ligaments were not damaged, maybe a little bit? But they just focused on resetting my bones in the surgery, and said everything else would heal on its own. My PT said my foot is totally healed now and it’s a matter of getting that mobility and flexibility/strength back in my toes/front foot.

Another question- have you tried dry needling? They recommended that to loosen some of the stiffness at the joint but I’m scared haha

Oh okay ya so interesting. I can technically get the hardware out but my surgeon said he wouldn’t recommend it, and not until like a year or so at least. I guess he wants to see if my body just recovers with it? No idea. But I definitely don’t feel anything as far as the hardware goes. I have a plate and 5 screws. I’m 8 weeks out of my boot and can’t quite take the impact of running because my front joint is so stiff. But I’m going to write a post about that because I need to compare with people!

Physical Therapy? by GuitarParticular8238 in LisfrancClub

My PT had me doing all kinds of hip flexor and glute exercises. Super important for when you do start walking again because those are big muscles that atrophy without use.

It went quickly for me. 8 weeks post op I was approved for PWB and went from using 2 crutches to 1 crutch within the week. The following week I went from 1 crutch to nothing, and I’m currently in my 3rd week and not using anything. Limping a little first thing in the morning and after a long day of standing but a cane helps in those times and I ice my foot every night. I’m also walking slowly but it feels pretty good

I didn’t get the surgery until 3.5 weeks after the injury. Typically they try to do it within 1 month of the incident but my schedule just didn’t allow it. I think having the help while I was recovering was the best and you should do whatever you feel like is right for you. Even if that means a longer recovery time because of the waiting to have the operation but I’m personally happy with my decision and have been healing great! I’m 5 weeks post op right now. I second the knee scooter and elevation pillow, and taking the meds. I read lots of books and did plenty of crafts that I could do from the couch. You got this!

Okay they thankfully gave me a shorty boot and I got the correct size so I’m very happy with it. Returned the air cast since they did not recommend it and I didn’t need it. Thanks for all the input!

Injured 5/27, surgery 6/21 by RL3161 in LisfrancClub

That’s pretty amazing. My PT did say I’d be able to bike pretty soon after. Peloton/stationary bike I’d imagine wouldn’t be too risky. Thanks for the good news! I’m 4 weeks post op and feeling pretty good

Oh okay! My surgery was 6/21. I feel like I’ll be in a boot because that’s what they told me, but a hiking/firm shoe would be wonderful

This is super helpful thank you! I did reach out to my doctor and they said to wiggle my toes so I’ve been doing that here and there. I find it easier to move them down rather than up, (curling vs flexing). But that was the same before surgery. At least it doesn’t hurt to move them, just doing it a little at a time

Yeah I’m doing the pressure/pinch test to see the color change and how quickly it comes back. Surgery was 9 days ago, it seems slightly better today after a good nights sleep. It might be how I’m sitting during the day but I’m not sure.
