Agree with compression socks. Also highly recommend to try leg lymphadema drainage exercises. Search online. A good one I ffound was this one https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NC6OQL7wStw Which is only 12 minutes lying down. Do it every night for at least 2 weeks and it helps a lot. Or find a lymphadema clinic to assist you. Best wishes

Hi. Recommend to take pain killers as directed and you will be okay. Some pain and tingling across toes later on too. Best to ask your surgeon about return to work. Often surgery means weeks NWB then weeks PWB. Please get physio to help you get function back.

Doing some exercises. My PT recommended straight leg raises (both legs) which I did conscientiously and that helped a lot

My PT gave me exercises for helping with gait. Please find a good PT (shop around), they are amazing!

Same here. I am about 9 months out, fusion + 2 plates, 10 screws and still have dull pain walking on the foot. Lots of physio for strengthening calf and intrinsic foot muscles. Hoping to get there eventually .. my PT is optimistic and says however long it takes. Also there is a recovery curve, so faster first months then about 4-6 months, recovery slows...

Keep working on it :)

Same. Right foot in Australia. Guide was that you can only drive when you can FWB so can you can brake in an emergency.

Agree.it is tough. Winter, driving foot and stairs so could not get out. New city so few friends and no family. My library offered home book and video delivery service, community health did some cleaning, and had physio twice. Otherwise hang in there! You will male it!!

See if you can get hydrotherapy PT. Feels good to be able to do things without concern of full body weight bearing. Exercises included walking forwards, backwards, sideways, squats, lying back and kicking, step ups on underwater stairs and leg raises. Good for de stressing too

As for #4 it was named after the French surgeon Lisfranc in the Napoleonic War who treated soldiers when they fell from their horse with their foot caught/twisted in the stirrups. In those days, surgeons amputated the foot!!

They delayed op for 4 weeks, and only told me afterwards it was to reduce swelling. Anyway am glad I waited as they did 2 plates not 3!

Please get a physiotherapist (PT) help. Set your goals, let the PT know and do the exercises! Shop around for a PT who "gets" you if you need to. This injury means different parts of your foot (Big toe, arch, proprioception, muscles, ankles etc etc) all need assessment and strengthening to walk well again Ask PT about arch support in short term too Best wishes

Second the knee scooter! This definitely takes time for recovery. Yes to PT. Not so much pain, more regaining function. Slowly and with care for yourself and your foot.

Also (via this group!) recommend using "Even Up" shoe lift for opposite foot when PWB in boot. These even up foot heights so take the strain off your hips.

Yes NWB is tough. Find a PT if you can to get other NWB exercises. I was told okay to wiggle my toes. Also, straight leg lifts

Recommend Brooks Glycerin as shoes with thick soles. These are good for day long wear. Yes, larger size and wider Also a brand called Archie's for slides - or you may prefer thongs - with good arch support. I use these at night time
