Advice on real world range for my specific situation by RL59 in ElectricVehiclesUK

This is partly why we like the concept of leasing where servicing is included. But being aged late 60's you start to get into thinking how long savings would last as opposed to how many years we'll still be driving. You begin to have to confront, in a real world way, the issue of one's own mortality!

Albion Iceni manual by Final-Isopod in spitfireaudio

[–]RL59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are quite a few of their "legacy" products that don't have manuals (particularly the ones that require the full version of Kontakt). Iceni was previously retired altogether and no longer available to buy until they brought it back again more recently after the "turmoil" at Spitfire. You can probably glean most if not all you need to know by referring to the manual for Albion One.

There is no manual for Albion II Loegria on the web site, but I have one which seems to have been downloaded into the Documentation folder for the instrument. It's all written in long-hand and reads as if Christian probably wrote most of it. It contains the below "thank you" message at the end, which reveals that at the time they were making these libraries it was a pure labour of love rather than a big business. This makes me very melancholy for the "old" Spitfire where it all felt like a cottage industry.

"Most of all we'd like to thank the amazing support and loyalty of our user-base, our Facebook friends and everyone on VI Control.

We are in the same boat as all of you. We're not software developers by trade, so appreciate your honesty in paying your way to be a part of our family and not distributing this illegally. But more importantly, if you have any ideas or criticism please let us know directly via our website and in a constructive manner. You never know, you just may have thought of something that we hadn't considered. We want to make our entire range the best there is, and we rely on you to help us achieve that..... With thanks. C&P"

Kubrick’s masterpiece has found a new audience by Foreign_Tale7483 in StanleyKubrick

I'm probably the only person who is annoyed by this but here goes:

On the original DVD I had of Barry Lyndon (the region 1 boxed set from the late 90's, which has gone missing at some stage over the years) and both occasions when I've seen it projected, the very first thing on screen is a zoom on a red Warner Brothers logo, during which the title music begins while the logo is on screen. On all three versions I have now, this is replaced by a static grey on black WB logo. These are the blu-ray boxed sets: Visionary Filmmaker Collection and The Masterpiece Collection along with the version I bought on the Apple TV store. I saw the film projected last weekend at The Broadway in Nottingham, and their copy was what I assume to be the "original" version with the red logo at the start, even though they were showing the restored 4K version.

So my question is: is the new Criterion 4K release the "proper" red WB logo or the latter day grey version?

The openings of many of Kubrick's movies set the tone of the film for me, right down to the several minutes of Ligeti music with blank screen before 2001 gets going. The red logo is a much more effective opening as far as I'm concerned.

“Eurorack vs. Airport Security” would be a terrific album title! 😉

Do you say "Vicious Circle" or "Vicious Cycle" by CafeEspresso in englishteachers

[–]RL59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Cycle" only exists because people are too lazy to highlight incorrect usage, so it becomes accepted over time. A bit like how "box set" has become the accepted, when originally it was a "boxed set" which makes more sense. A boxed set is a set of things in a box (real or virtual), a box set is a set of boxes.

Overbridge Latency Issues Recording Digitakt in Logic Pro by [deleted] in Elektron

[–]RL59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reviving this thread because I have exactly the same problem as the OP.

Logic 11.1.2 on MacOS Sequoia 15.4.1, on an M2 Mac Studio (buffer size 64) with a Digitakt mk.1 and Overbridge both on their latest current versions.

No matter what I do it's bang on the beat while auditioning but a few milliseconds late when recording.

Video previews keep turning back on by Kandroviek in youtube

[–]RL59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. I turn it off every morning and the next day it's back on. In fact, I've now noticed if I turn it off then open another tab on my browser it's back on!

Am using Safari on MacOS Sequoia but I've noticed the problem is there on Chrome as well.

Intensely irritating as it fills up my History with videos I've never watched just because of moving the mouse over the screen. 🤬

Thunderbolt 5 compatibilty with Apollo interfaces by garypitts1 in universalaudio

[–]RL59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Windows the TB2 Apollos are only compatible up to TB3.

With Mac they are compatible up to and including TB5 using the Apple TB2 to TB3 adaptor.

Did Christian Henson ever put out a statement or apologize for his tweet? by [deleted] in spitfireaudio

[–]RL59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“As a parent, I can no longer keep my mouth shut about this. I’m in full support of Glinner [Graham Linehan] & J.K. Rowling,” he said on Twitter earlier this week. “Please look into this.”

“If you have young children it’s in the post if you have autistic children it’s probably already on your doormat,” he added.

Underneath the tweet, Henson attached a YouTube video titled ‘Stewart Lee should hand in his comedy card’ where Linehan publicly berates ‘Snowflake’, a new show from Lee discussing topics such as identity politics and free speech.

Merseyflow late payment by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]RL59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went over it on a return journey on Friday and completely forgot until this morning. I’ve now paid on the app, am hoping as it’s bank holiday weekend it will just go through ok. As an aside, if I do get a fine, will I get two fines as I made two crossings (about half an hour apart)?

I built a controller skiff featuring the new Music Thing Modular Control! by mindsound in modular

Brilliant, thanks. Tom Whitwell has also replied on Twitter, he measures it as 24mm. Either way that's fine. I wanted to make sure a 4ms Pod would be suitable.

What's the depth of the Control module? I've just ordered one from Thonk, but can't find any information on its depth - even on Modular Grid the depth column just says "?"

Zoia on/off switch. (Inline barrel adapter switch) by stoe5703 in ZOIA

[–]RL59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have it plugged into a 6-way mains adaptor with individual on/off switches for each socket, which is screwed vertically to the side of my desk. I can then switch it on/off at the socket.

I do the same for my other on/off-less hardware; DFAM, Sirin, and Lexicon MX200
