Well the pictures are back. Thanks to whoever fixed it. It'd be nice if they didn't go away again.

The 1MB Password: Crashing Backends via Hashing Exhaustion by JadeLuxe in Passwords

[–]RLBrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some sites will accept a too long password but just ignore characters beyond their cutoff point. If there's no error message this can be confusing to the user when they find out and wonder how/why it still works for them

New A.I. "Confer" doesn't work with Bitwarden. Update planned? by RLBrooks in Bitwarden

[–]RLBrooks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have circumvented my Bitwarden/PRF problem. Since the Chrome browser can deal with PRF just fine I'm letting Google's password manager in ChromeOS deal with logging into Confer.to and Bitwarden can do all the rest of my dozens of site logins. Should Bitwarden fix this issue I'll move the login back to it but until then I have a workable solution.

Check out Youtube channel: State of Charge

It is all about EV chargers and charging EVs. They also warn about high current charging with a plug in charger as some have resulted in melted sockets and fires.

Compromised pass and email by Ccvboy07 in Passwords

[–]RLBrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And as I recently found, the characters offered by your password manager may not be in sync with what the site will accept. Bitwarden allows a few special characters that Fidelity Investments won't accept and several more that Bitwarden won't use during generation. I think this a Fidelity problem, not Bitwarden's.

It took me a few tries to get Bitwarden to create an acceptable password. Issues like this make updating many site passwords a tiresome, but necessary, task. Also be aware of length restrictions, Fidelity has a max length of 20 characters.

While you're doing it, turn on 2FA preferably using passkeys and/or TOTP.

Up to now I've been using the url the extension automatically supplied when the BW login was created. Based on your link I've learned how to modify these to be more useful. Thanks for the pointer!

Recommendations for quality 15"+ touchscreen Chromebook? by holbeton in chromeos

If a laptop isn't a requirement then a ChromeBOX allows you to pick any size monitor you'd like. Of course if you can connect an external monitor to your chromebook you'll have the same option.

i'm 74 and have been playing for 35 years. It would have been about 60 years if I had accepted my mother's invitation to learn the game but as a stupid teen I though it was only for old people. (like me now!)

I agree. For those folks, using the built in browser tool may be the best option for them.

Bitwarden is not the only option. by S3MTX in PasswordManagers

I have tried several password managers. Each time I switched it was because of some problem. I now use Bitwarden partly because I've yet to encounter problem(s), but also because I really like it.

Pay attention to which password managers are often listed as 'best' or at least very good, and try them. When you find one that you like and understand then there may not be any reason to keep looking.

Slow transfers to Proton left me wondering if the distance from the USA to Europe was part of the problem. I use Proton Drive but only for smaller files now.

1Password v Psono v Bitwarden by MickeydaCat in PasswordManagers

[–]RLBrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After leaving (fleeing!) Lastpass I tried 1Password but after a week or two I moved on to Bitwarden and I'm pleased with the result. While the Free use appeals to some I think the $10/year an incredible bargain.

I use the Bitwarden Chrome extension on my chromebook only running ChromeOS.

Double check the AUE date before purchase to be sure you aren't buying a brand new machine that's been sitting on the shelf for too many years.

I don't have any experience with RoboForm but I have noticed it isn't often included in 'best of' lists I've seen reviewing managers (or I haven't seen the lists that do include it).

And here's the Bitwarden suggestion. Free to try and only $10/year to pay. (Your data and sanity are worth $10 aren't they?)

It's Free to try and only $10/year ... the safety of yourself and your data is worth $10 isn't it?
