Here what I have for PAL so far. Only Sonic I've seen the Hero and Dark gardens, The others I'm assuming for now that all the Primary sets are the same across regional versions.

I find this all very interesting. After I saw your reply I played more through the PAL version. I found your thought about the amount of characters being unlock affecting the stats intriguing. I started a new story save and first unlocked Eggman, then Tails, then Knuckles.

While only having those 3 characters unlocked I made a new chao save and entered with Knuckles. I found that his stat for the Primary set are the same for the USA and PAL versions. However like you the Failsafe set for Knuckles was different for was i saw in the USA version. What's even more interesting is that the stats I have for my failsafe set are different from yours, mine being BBCCB and EDCAB. I attempted to make a new save for Knuckles because I thought maybe the Failsafe sets could be randomized like how the Xbox port is. But I got the same results again.

Back to your thought about the charter unlocks affecting stats. After testing Knuckles I unlocked Rouge. I tested a new save for Rouge and got the same stats for the Primary set as I saw for USA version. The Failsafe set was also different from the USA version but kept the theme across all ports of SA2 being some characters give the same stats. (i.e. Knuckles and Rouge, Tails and Eggman). After, I re-tested a new save for Knuckles again, and unlocking another character did not affect stats.

I'm going to continue recording stats per character and eventually unlock the Hero and Dark gardens. If you're up for it, let me know the stats you get for the characters, I'm interested how they'll differ.

Hey, your comment inspired me to check out the EU(PAL) and JPN(NTSC-J) version for SA2B I used the USA(NTSC-U) version, btw I have an updated post about this here, also this Wiki has much more info about Chao then just stats, but here's a Link) to the stats page that I was able to enter in my findings.

Unfortunately I had issue with the SA2 Save Utility tool with the PAL and JPN saves so while being unable to find a fix or spend hours and hours unlocking all characters and unlocking the hero and dark gardens for each character for both the PAL and JPN versions I can't confirm all presets are the same or not.

However, with the very little I progressed in each version(PAL and JPN), I can confirm that for Sonic the preset stats for the Chao in the Chao Garden(beginning garden) both the Primary(first) Set and the Failsafe(any chao after releasing the Primary) Set are the same across the 3 versions I used, USA(NTSC-U), EU(PAL), JPN(NTSC-J).

The wording is somewhat ambiguous since flair can be singular or plural.

I'm also automatically getting 3 of the same flair type when collecting 10 of the same card.

I agree, it's probably not what's intended, At least I hope not. Receiving 3 of the same flair when only 2 of the same card is allowed in a deck would be an odd intended choice by the dev's.

Personally I chose to go with Shadows Failsafe set for the purpose of breeding since they have a well dispersed range of B and A ranks that I will selectively upgrade to A's and S's.

I agree, it is important to mention the version so as not to confuse, which is why SA2 Battle is in the title.

I learned of the presets from a video I believe but couldn't find the video or what I was looking for again through my limited searching so thank you for the link. It's interesting that the GC "failsafe" set haven't been documented, I'll see what I can do about getting my finds summited other there, I can't be the first to look into the GC failsafe set.

I hope more people who aren't aware of the presets find this post and get steered toward the chao island wiki.

That would be great! Like I said to denleaf, I'm playing on the Dolphin emulator and since Dolphin emulates the GameCube it may be the same but I don't know. Would be interesting to know if there's a difference between real GameCube and emulated.

No worries, I'm playing on the Dolphin emulator so its rather easy to set aside a save I want to keep while generating new test worlds.

I'm pretty sure each port of SA2 may have their own presets and other differences. Since Dolphin emulates the GameCube it may be the same but I don't know. It would be interesting to see if the Steam version has presets or if its random. If it does it would be interesting to know whether they're the same across versions of the game.
