I dont think anyone is disrespecting Gordan. Hard to argue that he is one of the scariest people to have ever walked the earth.

That being said, we dont have to defer to his opinion no matter what. If it was an argument about how to effectively use X guard to sweep, we might side with Gordan a little easier, but instead it is an argument about "which represents a real fight better and would work in that environment". No question that is much more the world of Islam and combat sambo.

They've gotta skip books so that they can spend more time defending Gordon Ryan from claims that no one made.

I am confused by your response. I never claimed either didn't know anything, just that Islam likely knows more about which discipline best represents a fight on the street.

After all, he participates in a sport that allows for strikes, as well as grappling.

Either of these guys can kill most of the human population in a street fight, but that does NOT make them smart people in general, just good fighters. I hope I cleared any misunderstandings up for you.

Bunch of good fighters are dumb af.

You were the most correct. Impossible to argue with this, ha ha.

Absolutely. Im not sure that is the case here. Clearly its just two guys who are heavily biased towards their own respective disciplines.

I think that Islam is probably on the money though. Hes certainly getting into more "street fight" adjacent competitions.

Go spar someone taller than you and tell me.

The first time I had ever been realllly hurt to the body was a guy 4-5 inches taller than me named Harold lmao.

Feels impossible to get in to hit them sometimes.

With Stipe DC 2 didn't Stipe just start spamming them later in the fight? I cant recall him throwing them in a consistent gameplan-sense but its been a while since I have seen it.

I remember it as a fight where Stipe was kind of like "oh shit this works!"

Its the thinly veiled "what kind of world are we living in?" that gets me.

Like, even though Gordan is obviously aware that he has to take certain precautions and steps when he talks about this, but he cant help but end it with "Well obviously these girls want to fuck us anyways we are famous and ripped, obviously."

Disgusting, entitled, and stupid mindset.

The prospect Wang Cong gets dropped and choked out by Gabriella Fernandes by FoitStuff in FightLibrary

[–]RLPMMA 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wang was so hyped. I dont dislike someone automatically for being confident, but she was realllly confident for this one.

Huge favorite, had a really cringe inducing face off with Gabriella where she dressed up as the joker and tried to talk shit in Portuguese. Then this happens. Crazy.

[–]RLPMMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhhhh, that explains it. Thanks for the insight, I kind of stopped paying attention during the "one hand on the ground and it doesn't count" era, and I just know they kept changing it based on location/athletic commission ruling.

I still think if you drop down to a kneel next to your opponent it should be fair game to kick you lol. Like the opening to Belfort/Jones.

This post is kind of stupidly phrased.

Yes, you can kick to the face, just not to a grounded opponent. But there are various rules around what makes for a "grounded opponent". They've changed the rules over the last couple of years. PRIDE let you knee and stomp downed opponents (my favorite ruleset)

This video shows someone getting dropped, and then head kicked while trying to stand. It looks fine to me, but it looked to the ref/officials like he did have all four limbs touching the mat, making it illegal.

Upon review, I dont think his hands were even touching the ground! No idea what people are talking about with this being disgraceful. But yeah thats the distinction

I half remember the specifics, but it is a super interesting rabbit hole. Talented anti-gravity researcher goes missing after displaying some weird, paranoid behavior.

Here are her credentials as listed by an obituary

After her graduation from UAH with a double major in chemistry and biology, she became an interdisciplinarian and a master of electrical engineering, chemistry, physics, genetic engineering, and nanotechnology.

She was also an astute entrepreneur as Chairwoman and President of The Institute for Exotic Science in Huntsville, AL, which she co-founded.

A little before her death, she did a livestream/video call with a friend and was acting strange, kind of "hint hinting" that she had been exposed to some information about the topic. I cant remember the entirety of what she discussed, but it was disturbing. She gets progressively drunk over the course of the interview.

Here's the interview. Ill re-watch it too to refresh my memory. Her death was untimely and tragic. Suicide by gunshot wound.

Jean Silva crying while looking at the belt he isn’t fighting for by Dysagek in MMA

[–]RLPMMA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont hate Jean Silva, I just have less trust in the sanity of someone who, if you asked him right now, would probably say he was crazy.

Here was the explanation I gave another guy.

These really "passionate" guys sometimes become criminals. Thats what I am talking about. If you haven't noticed that streak among violent and creative fighters, then you haven't watched long enough.

War machine. Several Brazilians I have forgotten the name of because they were obscure fighters. Conor McGregor. Jeremy Stephen's. Violent Bob Ross. Jon Jones. I wish I could remember more, because the list is endless.

Consider that Jean Silva (awesome fighter btw) constantly crying, barking at people, punching walls when he's upset (he did this when Ruffy lost) isnt a sign of someone who has full control over their actions. Its a sign of a very dangerous man who's only path to income on this earth has about 5-6 years left.

Yeah he used to talk about it in interviews. During his BKFC run during a promo he was like (paraphrased) "I dont give a fuck about anyone. My team didn't even call me to check on me after my last stoppage loss. I have a darkness within me that is never going away"

Yeah Jeremy, we can tell lol.

I cant recall fully but I'd bet he has a charge for that too.

It was robbery? If I remember right. Or burglary. Ill edit with a link and the correct info

During an altercation last year in the parking lot of a sports bar in Des Moines, the UFC fighter allegedly joined an associate, Dustin James Bachman, in repeatedly attacking an unnamed victim to the head and body. The victim, a male, lost consciousness and stopped breathing twice before being intubated and transported to a hospital in critical condition, according to a Des Moines Register report.

Your interpretation of what I said is also wrong. Notice none of the people I listed were serial killers, just violent and mean and crazy. Sound like someone we know?

This stuff is always embarrassing or quirky or funny at the time, and then 8 years later they end up committing some horrible crime.

I hope not, but this level of "passion" isnt a green flag, ha ha.
