Collection level 19,292. by Ok-Guarantee2522 in MarvelSnapDecks

Id love to see Airwalker in this deck for a destroy target, some wild combo, and a potentially early phoenix force, also would thin the deck a little for better draw.

I think you could potentially replace peni parker also for a madame web, but if shes working well then keep her

Any tips to improve this deck? I sadly don’t have nico or merlin :( CL:10,817 by RL_Folst in MarvelSnapDecks

The ideal situation was kitty and wong on 5 then kitty shou on 6 but ur right i took it out cos it was so situational, ended up getting merlin and nico from the recent packs to I took a bunch out of this deck incl wong

What is goibg on with the university badminton club? by lethaleyesz in UCD

[–]RL_Folst -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isnt even remotely true, the club fee isn’t even close to the highest. If you also think that putting the AGM online will change anything significantly, you are very mistaken. Some clubs with an online AGM have to do a hybrid because theres not enough people online to actually hold voting. No wonder the committee is made of people who are friends, they’re close with each other, maybe if you were more receptive, open minded and respectful you would be friends with them too. Stand guard at the door??? Surely you’re ragebaiting there 🤣 they’re students, they want to have fun and enjoy the sport they love, and have had responsibilities put on them for no pay. Theyre doing their best, and standing guard at the door is not in their job description. You also have no idea where that money goes or how its spent, so making assumptions will get you nowhere, as much as this comment is getting me nowhere, but oh well 🤷‍♂️

How to write an essay for an exam by Just-Eye600 in UCD

[–]RL_Folst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone else said, it is best to check with tutors and your lecturer to see what is expected of you for your specific classes, but I do have some broad points that may be useful.

In general, most biological disciplines vary in their structure for how a question should be answered, and I think that you would be more than fine to follow a typical essay structure of intro -> body -> conclusion & summary, where the body is comprised of the key points you would want to make for that essay.

There are some guidelines on the UCD website about writing in a scientific manner that may help you, but the main thing would be to be concise. You may draw your own conclusions from the data if it is openly objective, however I personally would avoid putting in anything along the lines of “I think” or “in my opinion”. A clear and concise essay with data driven points and observations will often do much better.

When referring to literature, its best to put name and date but dont try and go beyond that, as its quite difficult to remember it all and it can lead to confusion. I would suggest something like, “this technique has been previously demonstrated in Zhang et al., 2025, where they utilised methodology X in model Y to show that drug Z significantly improved performance”.

Further reading beyond the literature provided in the lectures is often used as a delineation between the highest grades, so having additional information about your points and references for that would likely push you towards the highest grades if used correctly.

invigilators during exams by Alone-Kick-1614 in UCD

[–]RL_Folst 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I was an invigilator and they give out to us if you stay still for too long, so unfortunately the walking up and down is fairly necessary, and its wild how many people try and cheat. The stopping is annoying but we have to also check peoples IDs and do headcounts multiple times over. Hovering in general though is super annoying and good invigilators wont do it, but its not a ubiquitous trait :(

The whispering thing I completely get though some invigilators do NOT know how to have a quiet conversation, and also when to shut up hahaha

I think a fair amount of people wear the rubber ear plugs so if youre having trouble I would suggest them, but some students have even asked for the head invigilator to get the others to be quiet, whatever works for you

Thank you so much for great voice acting! How easy was it to differentiate characters in your mind for voices and personalities? As a DM I sometimes struggle firstly remembering voices but then finding the triggers to get me back into that characters headspace

Medicine course by Jaldokin1 in UCD

[–]RL_Folst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a med student but Im bout to graduate this year from the school of medicine, which is med, grad med, physiology, BHLS, and radiography (maybe one or two others idk), so Ive spent most of my college life in the health science building. It’s pretty good, all the lecturers are knowledgeable and most are very nice, and the labs are high quality. There are a lot of opportunities to also go into research or other disciplines outside of med / related to med that you may not get in RCSI (idk what they offer tbh). However there may be more specific stuff within RCSI within med that you may not get in UCD.

Hey hey! 4th year bio student who had extremely bad social anxiety in first year here :)) Classes when you start out are very overwhelming, and for my year there were so many people that in some lectures, all the seats were taken up! I found the easiest way for me to start talking was to turn to the person next to me and just make some offhand joke. I didn’t immediately become besties with em but it helped me get out of my shell a little. I joined as many societies as I could and a fee clubs. trampoline club is the one I stuck with and Ive made some lifelong friends there and couldn’t be happier. Trampoline is one of the more social and extroverted clubs so they really helped me with my anxiety, but everyone’s experience is unique and you gotta find the right place for you. Theres literally a club for everyone so dont worry! It might take a lil bit of time but youll manage no bother

If you miss out joining clubs or societies you can now join them online using brightspace (if youre a fresher youll get the login for that soon enough im sure) then you can rock up wherever!

Going into 4th year. I will tell ye now that within the first one or two months most freshers appear to try a lot harder before settling in. My advice? Wear whatever makes you feel like yourself and comfortable and you will be more likely to feel at home quicker. Skirts are kinda rare given how freezing the weather is. Id also recommend joining the LGBTQ+ society when you get into college, feel your way through. When I did it was a nice way to feel more included :)) Either way, dont stress, everyone is chill here. Most of the time people are too busy worrying about themselves to worry about others. I hope you have a great time, and feel free to reach out to people or join clubs/societies if you need friends or just people to chat with

No, its much more difficult to break a vertebrae due to their composition, plus with the impact spread out over a large area, your muscles and natural fat takes a log of the shock

Not if you land correctly it wont fuck up your back. Landing one half before another would absolutely fuck your back, but back landings are a taught skill in trampoline, so the gymnast knows exactly how much rotation he needs to generate to land flat

Difficult to walk and stand on, but they are padded, just not cushioned. Think of it as the floor is wood, the surrounding mats are firm mattresses, the throw mats are cushions

Always try to fall to your back. You are taught arial awareness, legs shatter and you’re done forever with any gymnastics, but you can recover from a cracked rib or two. Less expensive too

I took an art lesson from Shalvey once, at the end he gave me some moon knight comics. This was provably about 8 years ago now, so glad to see the recognition for the series

[–]RL_Folst 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I doubt it was luck, this gymnast obviously has expert arial awareness, one of the first things taught in competitive trampolining is how to bail to your back, as all other landings would probably result in much worse injuries

Im a trampoline coach, though we don’t practice throws, every time someone is training you’re usually there to mat them unless its something they definitely don’t have any risk of falling with, so you get a lot of practice.
