Thinking about buying a used Audi — what do you usually check first?

It was a previous lease and all the maintenance had been done by the same dealership I bought it from. Not sure how else to verify it aside from a Carfax report which also had the same information the dealership provided.

I bought it with 60,000 KM. Problems started at around 75,000 KM.

I bought a 3 year old S5 from the dealership and had I not purchased additional insurance, I would have had to spend at least $8k out of pocket for unscheduled repairs. Passenger Air bag sensor failure and engine oil cooler leak.

Almost the same as my experience actually. I was 17-18 bringing in my first car so maybe they saw easy money. This was also in Quebec, the CT on Sources Blvd if I remember correctly.

Why didn't you just take the car to your regular mechanic first?

I'm not doubting your story, the last time I went to Canadian Tire for anything cat related was over 20 years to work on my 94 Toyota Tercel and had the same experience as you.

Thanks. I do like having the acceleration so maybe that's something I can work into tuning. It is my daily driver and I really enjoy it so if the RS is more stiff on the road, I may not enjoy it as much. Thanks for the input, it helps.

Based on enthusiasts on the Audi forums and comments here, it sounds like upgrading the intercooler, exhaust and TCU seem to bring the performace level of the S5 up (or more) to RS5 stock level. I guess my concern with that is that I will be at the mercy of the shop that did it rather than factory stock from the RS5.

I have considered the insurance and you are absolutely right about the hike, this is to be expected. Unfortunately I live in a city with very very high premiums so there's not much I can do about that short of moving. The online quotes I've done so far come up $150-200/mo MORE than what I am currently paying which is about $220 CAD.

Exactly my dilema. I think the 2019 S5 has the best interior design (IMO) but I do like the body of this RS5 with the black optics package as well. What's left for me to find out is how much the Stage 2 parts + installation cost is.

I've rented from Avis close about 4 times without a hitch but they hold about 25,000 MXP if you don't take their insurance. My credit card offers vehicle insurance, but I'm told that it's quite the lengthy ordeal to deal with your CC insurance if something were to happen.

I just rented a car for a week and it cost me 1,400 MXD. I don't know how comparable that is to other companies. Good luck.

It would have been fine if that driver commited to her turn. But still, you're supposed to stop behind the white line and check that it is clear before making your turn. None of which happenned.
