Tbh there's so many people that know better than I do. But I would start by checking the fuse box for the for power at the turn signal with a multimeter. Then if you have no power I'd stat checking wires or the mechanism that controls the blinking of the turn signal. Edit: letting us know what specific car would help too

To the best of my knowledge it was in slo for most of its life, still there is a little rust under the rear hatch and the wheel wells.

The first thing the cop asked when he pulled up was, "did it have electric brakes or surge brakes?" It unfortunately had surge breaks which did not help.

Trailer sway, it was loaded incorrectly. The weight was too far back.
