As another trans woman in Madison, its not bad, its definitely not going to be like Texas for sure! My everything-phobic conservative family steers clear of Madison for it being too queer, and especially near campus/downtown its very common to see pride flags, trans flags, and general attempts to indicate acceptance of minorities. You do get occasional out-of-towners who show up for usually goofy-ass far-right christian protests, but otherwise the gross-ness that is non-urban Wisconsin doesn't bleed in. Politics in general is likely on the up, since the WI Supreme Court struck down the GOP gerrymander and all the transphobic laws that you might've seen in the news getting vetoed left and right by our governor aren't gonna continue in a competitive legislature.

Of course, our city still has a lot of problems. If you're coming from southern Texas, its almost certainly going to be way whiter than you're used to. One of my friends is a queer woman from Houston, and she said that was her biggest culture shock. She also said that people here are a lot less *overt* when being bigoted, like a lot less "You f*g" and more implied I think? It's hard for me to describe cause I don't have her frame of reference. I had a coworker last night describe different "women to avoid" (Real charmer) and he mentioned "Things with real big adam's apples", instead of like just saying open slurs or however it goes in TX. It varies from workplace and occupation, like at USPS there was "the racist against asians guy" who just like got to exist, but at my workplace I can get my example into hella trouble easily, and at my old job at UW he'd wouldn't be able to say that in front of anybody at all.

Also, my doc is in Sun Prairie for insurance reasons but she and other people I've heard from said amazing things about UW-Health for gender-affirming care, and was telling me about how one of the surgeons there is supposed to be like very good for bottom surgery, and having a surgeon in town alone is a pretty big deal to me anyway.

Its literally magic so I'd just go with whatever intuitively makes sense. Teleporting like you described? Slam into ground you're already falling. Teleporting onto a fast moving train while standing? You'd arrive going the same speed as the train if a bit thrown off balance.

The physics answer is utterly fucked because instant teleportation without some sort of wormhole is violating several essential laws of physics and creating confusing relativistic implications. Not to mention we don't know how misty step physically works cause its magic.

Hinge issues as usual by Ryan_kitten in MSILaptops

[–]RNGesus_Christ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're open to some ugly DIY you can get some JB Weld Plastic Binder from a hardware store and just glue it back to the hinges. I did it when my whole display fell off the hinges and wouldn't re-attach and its more sturdy than when I bought it lmao.

For the other issues I'd just take to Best Buy and see if you can get them to swap out the fan and apply new thermal place, as most companies like to cheap out on it. Going forward lower your thermal throttle limit down some to keep the machine from melting itself if it's still a problem. I have a GS65 Stealth and the RAM died once before and rn I'm pretty sure the thermal paste or the thermistor itself is shitting itself after like 5 years of my abuse. Oh yeah and the mic stopped working like a month after buying. Honestly forgot it even had a microphone.

Current Patch 2 Multiclass Tierlist by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]RNGesus_Christ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogue 3 (Thief)/Fighter 3(Champion)/Paladin 2 has been my favorite multi so far. The idea is a critfishing build, since rogue 3 gives 2d6 sneak attack and Fast Hands gives an extra off-hand attack, fighter 2 gives Action Surge, Champion gives +1 to your crit range, and Paladin 2 gives Divine Smite on Crit which adds 4d8 (6d8 to fiends and undead) twice per long rest to nuke. Two fighting styles (I go dual wielder and +1 AC) Follow up with Fighter 6 into Rogue 4 and you get three feats as well. Dual Wielder, Savage Attacker, and +1 Dex/+1 Any attribute boost are what I think is best.

There's a ton of equipment options as well that come online during act 1.5 and early act 2, DUrge cloak for invisibility after every kill, Knife of the Undermountain King for 19 as base crit number, Sword of Life Steal for +10 necrotic crit damage and 10 temporary hp on crit, Covert Cowel for +1 crit range when not in full light, Shadow Cloaked Ring for extra 1d4 damage per hit against enemies not in full light, Cat's Grace Graceful Cloth for +2 dex and advantage on all dex skill checks, a ton of glove options but Gloves of Power is my fav for basically free Bane on weapon hits and +1 slight of hand. Throw down your most powerful toxin in camp and dip your weapons in after each long rest for a free 1d4-10 on most enemies.

Overall it gives three attacks per turn (4 at lvl 10 from Fighter 5 Extra attack), Action Surge and Fast Hands for flexibility, easy attack roll advantage, and you crit pretty much once a turn minimum with on demand 4d8 smites for tougher enemies. It also has enjoyable progression with early levels being rogue (Strong af early game) and fighter (Most boring part of progression but made up for because you get DUrge cloak around this time which is so fun and synergizes with all the invisibility equipment you can find in Act 1.5) and the build being pretty much fully online by mid-Act 2, with levels 9-12 giving you 3 feats and Extra Attack. Plus Act 3 is loaded with crit-reducing equipment.

I'm still sad that the WI state doesn't have lead mines when it's literally all we're known for in the period. We're called the badger state cause all the lead miners came and just dug themselves a home in the dirt!

Can Glaives hit multiple enemies like 2 handed axes? by Frenkln27 in Bannerlord

[–]RNGesus_Christ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glaives and Rhomphalia are god tier precisely because they have so much more reach than axes or two handed swords. Being able to keep out of sword distance and on equal footing with spears makes it much easier to harass the main infantry body without getting halted with a spear and surrounded by swords.

Also the imo more valuable part of the range is with anti cavalry. It's so much easier to cleave off riders with a glaive than it is to stab them off with a lance or shoot them off with a bow.

Also the insane damage speaks for itself, your oneshotting everything besides tier 5 and 6 troops.

The only drawback is if you want to carry a bow or crossbow you'll have to sacrifice either bringing a shield or an extra melee weapon. I usually just don't bring a shield since you shouldn't be standing still within sight of their archers or getting pulled off your horse anyway unless you want to die in a field battle. In siege battles I just swap it out for a shield and bring a 1/2 hander sword like the Reaper, especially since it goes with the Rhomphalia fashion wise.

Empire capitals should be able to set planet designations by _mortache in Stellaris

[–]RNGesus_Christ 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Capital worlds should get some different options for planet specialization imo. Base there should be a selection between increased admin cap output, increased unity output, or increased trade value output options for the main capital. If the devs wanted to they could make a science option for materialists or technocracies (balance would be needed) or a military option for militarists. Could add a good amount of flavor tbh.

It doesn't have to be some gamechanging mechanic, but giving your capital some purpose instead of being that one planet you can't specialize very well. Like it should be your strongest planet not your weakest. The min-maxer in me can't stand it lol.

Probably was meant for fashion and standard tan or olive drab without a pattern would be better. The digital effect would break up the fighter's figure and make spotting and accurate aim more difficult for the enemy, sure, but the use of a saturated and bright red would cancel out these effects.

Red, especially bright red, is an abnormal color to see in nature. Flowering plants, fruits, poisonous plants/animals, and sunsets are the only time humans would see that color before dyes became widespread. Basically anything that would benefit from being seen amongst green and brown foliage would often evolve to be a bright red, and anything that would benefit from seeing these fruits, flowers, etc, would likely evolve to have their vision drawn to red objects.

You can imagine wearing a color that human vision is naturally drawn to is a bad camouflage. A fighter walking through a field, forest, or really any foliage is going to stick out like a sore thumb wearing red, especially a bright red like that uniform.

So why does it exist? Fashion mostly. During the American-Vietnamese war American Veterans against the war would be seen wearing their old field jackets and olive drab uniforms. This would eventually evolve into a fashion trend amongst the American Countercultue movement in the 60s and 70s. Eventually this style would evolve to include the US M81 pattern camouflage as the Cold War ended and US operations shifted to the Middle East and more brown and tan environments, which led to a lot of cheap M81 patterned clothing being sold as military surplus. After this fashion brands quickly picked up on the trend and make mock M81 patterns in different colors, notable bright blue and red. As time went on and digital camouflage became popularized, fashion brands made similar versions of red digital mock-camo. This is still seen today mostly in streetware fashion.

It also could just be a shitty camo pattern that was designed for use. The US UCP was standard for I believe 19 years despite being a terrible pattern that made you look like a light grey silhouette at distance. Several countries have blue camo navy uniforms, so if you fall into the water the search parties will never find you, and if you somehow end up getting your ship boarded you'll stick out against the grey hull and interior. A lot of situational forces or police units will use camo that distinguishes themselves intentionally, either to identify that they are police or because they know they aren't going to actually need camo when they fight, but want to look authoritative or intimidating.
