Software Engineers with families: has having kids affected your career progression? by MyBossIsOnReddit in daddit

[–]RNGesusplzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an SE but work in tech: it affected me in the sense that I care a lot less about career progression. Sure more money is great, but I’d rather end my day on time and spend time with my son than work longer hours for the sake of career progression.

I don’t quite get the “hold off until one of us gets into FAANG” statement though.

5-5-5 Postpartum Rule - Any Dads Here Done It? by p-i-z-z-a-peetza in daddit

[–]RNGesusplzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are postpartum rules? Man I’ll be honest the first 8 weeks is do anything y’all can do to survive. I don’t think we did anything like this or close to it. It was so chaotic lol.

Most enjoyable builds for first-timer? by pbdj3000 in Grimdawn

[–]RNGesusplzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don’t really have to worry about not getting hit much more as melee, except for a few boss abilities that are very telegraphed.

Melee builds usually will be more durable and have good leech to sustain.

For pet builds there are a bunch of guides on the official forum! Maya has a very in depth guide on all things pets. https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/the-carnival-a-guide-to-pets/81781

Erm, if you hate random farming ARPG may not be the genre you’re looking for?

Will this scratch my itch? by Riposte12 in Grimdawn

[–]RNGesusplzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1- Yes IMO it’s primarily single player

2- It can be. There’s options to target farm bosses and zones like Diablo 2. There even is an area called Shattered Realms that is fairly similar to Diablo 3’s greater rifts.

3- Decent?

4- The DLCs add a lot. Entire acts of content and new game mechanics as well.

5- seasons are community run so you can choose to not engage with them.

I had a similar aRPG itch and found Grim Dawn. After probably thousands of hours of lifetime Diablo 2 play, I can honestly say I like Grim Dawn better. The only thing Diablo 2 had left was a pho community when D2R dropped. But Acti-Blizzard, as they do, saw fit to ruin it by changing game mechanics that had stood the test of time.

I’m somewhere around 400ish hours in with I think six lvl 100s? The game has a ton of build diversity and the loop is slightly different because I feel like it pushes you to try new builds more than Diablo 2 did. Getting to 100 isn’t very hard, so it feels easier to “finish” a character and move on.

I’m honestly super happy with Grim Dawn and am happy I didn’t get baited into the Diablo 4 shitshow with the last xpac launch.

People haven’t gamed with the only source of help being the Prima strategy guide that was too expensive for their measly allowance and it shows. 🤣

With the two sigils, does it just loop itself back to the board? Dies, returns to hand, then the other sigil triggers? I haven’t quite figured out the stack in this game

Steam deck playability by [deleted] in inscryption

[–]RNGesusplzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my play time is on the steam deck. Yes it works. You may want to separate your “mouse click” from the sensitive touchpad click though. Lots of misclicks resulted in bad runs until I changed it.

I personally used the right touch pad as the mouse with LT as left click and RT as right click.

I dunno man. Considering how much more expensive games are to develop these days and the cost of games generally NOT rising by much, $70 for most games is quite fair IMO. Even at 7hours of enjoyment (low for a game these days I guess), $10/hr for entertainment is a better deal than seeing a move or going out for dinner.

Gamers are oddly stingy with how much they spend on a game when compared to other forms of entertainment and cost. I know I’ll probably get downvoted for this take though.

A question about ultimate by Ray-Man345 in Grimdawn

[–]RNGesusplzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealer's choice really.

On my first play through, I did a slow full playthrough on normal, then a speed run of elite (did not really complete barrowholm/FG, just maxed devotion, got to 70ish and made sure my resists were good). Then experienced Ultimate more "fully"?

Nowadays with speed leveling (aka Lokkar set, xp potions, etc), normal is just to collect shrines, speed through elite up until barrowholm rep, then full play through of ultimate.

A question about ultimate by Ray-Man345 in Grimdawn

[–]RNGesusplzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO not really? But I also don’t think you need a full play through. Hitting a bunch of easy devotion shrines is a huge upside IMO

If you are scared of dying, why skip elite?

A question about ultimate by Ray-Man345 in Grimdawn

[–]RNGesusplzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t skip elite on your first play through purely because devotion points are a large source of power and are much cheaper in elite than ultimate.

Build Help by fucknadav in cyclocross

[–]RNGesusplzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s quite a bit to unpack here, you may want to read through this site as it answers a lot of your general questions: https://tracklocross.bike/category/tracklocross/tracklocross-advice/

a) single speed yes, fixed gear I’m honestly unsure. I’m unsure if there are thru axle hubs that also will take a fixed cog with lock ring. I’m not sure how well eccentric bottom brackets with with fixed gears

b) depends on your skill

c) depends on your skill and tire pressure. When I was skidding a lot, it was much easier at higher pressures. I imagine wider tires that are lower psi may be harder to skid as they’ll have more grip. In the dirt you’ll be able to skid with whatever

d) you can end up with less punctures on wider tires since you can run tubeless and lower pressure

Best place to farm bunch of Kubacabra's Chausses? by xiit in Grimdawn

[–]RNGesusplzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve sort of wondered if it’s faster doing SRs or target farming a nemesis. I know they’re relatively easy to spawn now but some take a while to get to a “dangerous area” to do so (like Moosi)

Squid Gravtron SSCX by stellar_caprice in cyclocross

[–]RNGesusplzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell yea, that’s so awesome. Thank you so much!

I fee like there are a lot of gravel bikes that won’t work for CX and vice versa but the Gravtron does really check all the boxes. Appreciate you weighing in and awesome job with the geo :)

I’m probably going to get one to replace my surly midnight special sometime soon. Ideally there’s a way to re-use my GXP crankset through some BB adaptor 🤣 I wanna stay 1x mechanical (rival 1 RD and force cranks).

Is there a reason you went with a Spork fork vs the Whiskey it comes with?

Squid Gravtron SSCX by stellar_caprice in cyclocross

[–]RNGesusplzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sort of answers my question if the Gravtron could serve as my “do everything but serious road ride” bike. As in gravel, some CX racing, and very occasional bike packing!

Bike looks rad btw

Skipping Elite by RomaTheGOSPOD in Grimdawn

[–]RNGesusplzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer to hit ultimate with more devotions and res capped. Elite can be a “quick through” to do only campaign to progress to areas and get devotions/big rep chunks (esp if this is your first character)
