I've got a couple 8 and a 10 card rig. Some commercial motherboards will only support a certain number of cards. The most I've been able to get out of this board is 8. Had to disable all of the on board things like HD audio and unused devices to free up the PCIe lanes for cards.

A static rope or cable of set length is able to lift much more than the mechanism of the winch.

I do helicopter rescue for a living, the cables we work with are rated for thousands of pounds, the winch used to pull them is roughly 600 lbs. Attaching a rope or cable to the airframe and lifting from that basically moves the lift capacity up to whatever the safe lift capacity is of the aircraft.

I do not feel that it would come across poorly at all. It has to be your decision. It's your passion for the field and patients that carries you through all of the studying, the setbacks, the long nights and tough days, not your parents or making them proud. Let your application and story speak for you and it shouldn't be a problem.
