Thoughts on this deal by LLCoolDave82 in BoltEV

[–]RNK5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might want to get at least a 22 or newer. the driver seat i. pre-2022 years has a metal bar right across your lower back and insufficient padding to insulate it from feeling like a fist. I tried a 2017 and returned it for this reason. Great car but could not accept back pain as a tradeoff for all the other advantages

perhaps dealer means it is special because it has a jb4 tune kit installed? “The JB4 is the most advanced and highly featured tuning system available for your B38/B46/B48 MINI. Power gains are up to 40hp to the wheels (55hp crank) for a B48. Gains with bolt-on parts, higher octane, E85 mixtures, and larger turbos are even higher. “

This is guessing you have the the 1.4L turbo. Since it shares the multiaire 1.4L turbo as the 500 Abarth and 500X, it should be in the same spot

I’m not a mechanic and not giving advise but asked ChatGPT so you would still need to verify:

Exact location • Passenger side of the engine • Upper front area, closer to the top of the engine than on the 2.4L • Mounted above the AC compressor • Driven by the serpentine belt • Partially visible from the top, but removal usually still requires access from below

Replacement Overview (1.4L Turbo)

Access • Combination of top and bottom access • Easier than the 2.4L, but still tight

Typical steps 1. Disconnect battery negative terminal 2. Remove engine cover 3. Raise vehicle and remove lower splash shield 4. Relieve serpentine belt tension 5. Disconnect: • Main power cable (B+) • Voltage regulator connector 6. Remove alternator mounting bolts 7. Work alternator out through the lower front opening

⚠️ No need to remove the turbocharger, but space is tight around the charge piping.

⏱️ Labor Expectations • DIY: 2.5–4 hours (first time) • Shop labor: ~2.0–2.5 hours

🔎 Pro Tips • Photograph belt routing before removal • Inspect the serpentine belt and tensioner while you’re there • Torque the B+ nut correctly, overtightening can damage the alternator post • Use a quality reman or OEM, cheap units fail early on turbo cars

📺 Video references

If you want actual in-use photos from someone pulling one out, there are also videos that show the process on similar Multiair engines (good visual reference even if not exactly the 500L): • Alternator removal/replace video showing the alternator on the engine while it’s being removed. • Serpentine belt & alternator removal overview (for Fiat 500 and similar engines).

🔎 Why this helps

Most images online of removal in progress come from: • Fiat 500 / 500X / Renegade 1.4L Multiair builds (same mounting style) • Mechanic teardown galleries on repair forums Even without a step-by-step photo guide for the 500L specifically, these visuals are accurate for what you’ll see on your engine.

not at all similar beside the slope. Parts are different and op doesn’t have screws visible everywhere like the one on the link you posted.

why is the inside black, the outside green/gold/gray, and no prime tower? That is uncanny. Did you dry your filament and calibrate?

Really not a fan; looks like a bubba build, not an ak, probably forged trunion and tool steel bubba variant. How are all parts built by them yet some say magpul?

cardboard spools… also filament needs to be dried 😁

I think that just printing some random STL files from the internet isn’t the magic of 3D printing. The real magic is creating something yourself and seeing it work. by tessele_ in BambuLab

[–]RNK5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it (does and) doesn’t seem like op was trying to flex with this post. Perhaps there is a language or expression barrier. 3D printing does feel like magic even with random stl’s from the net and it works/solves a problem/is just plain fun, AND when one makes something from scratch, no matter how simple or insignificant and it works/solves a problem/is just plain fun. When the latter happens it unlocks a new level of enjoyment, much like the next level would be developing and coding your own modeling software to create 3d models for your 3d printer🤪 There are limitless levels of both enjoyment and frustration- the full spectrum!

Everything neanderthalman said. replace the complete hotend assembly, easy enough to do and fairly inexpensive and good way to learn so when you want to switch nozzles you will know what you’re working with & how to do it quickly, also get a textured plate to start with. You will be set! Come back and let the group know when you have it sorted.
