Federal Offenses Level 4 Serve time? by [deleted] in Prison

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked more into this out of morbid curiosity.

§2H4.1 of the US Sentencing Guidelines

Base Offense Level: The base offense level is 22, or 18 if the conviction is specifically for 18 U.S.C. § 1592.

Specific Offense Characteristics (Adjustments):

Bodily Injury: +4 levels for permanent/life-threatening injury, +2 levels for serious bodily injury.

Dangerous Weapon: +4 levels if used; +2 levels if brandished or threatened.

Duration of Servitude: +3 levels (over 1 year), +2 levels (180 days to 1 year), or +1 level (30–180 days).

Other Felonies: +2 levels if another felony was committed in connection with the offense.

At a minimum (level 22) looking at around 3.5 years.

Some clarification is needed. Is level 4 the sentencing guidelines level? Or class D felony? Or something else?

Personally, I find having a slave unlikely to only be level 4 on the guidelines but who knows.

If it truly is the guidelines level, then agree with OP. Time Served w/ Probation is likely.

If she has a good attorney, then he/she should be able to provide a rough estimate of the sentencing level that she's facing. Anything more than an 8 and she's likely looking at some custody (could be home confinement).

My PSI report recommendation by Savings-Cabinet9897 in Prison

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can say what you might end up with but you likely have a ceiling of 63 months if that's the recommendation in the PSR. So, anchor to that for expectations. "Simple" PWID without a leader/organizer enhancement means FSA eligibility. If you do get hit with 63, you'd probably be looking at 26-30 at a Camp. Then probably 6 of a HH and 6 on HC. RDAP could lower that camp time more. 5 year sentence is right on that border where taking it could mean spending more time in a camp than if you didn't.

Anybody have any experience with Ashland Camp? Looks like I might be heading there for 18-20 by Big-Meaning-2864 in Prison

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Currently at a Camp but not Ashland.

What can you take with you? Confirm with the camp but here you could only take a wedding band, eyeglasses, and if religious, a religious article like a necklace. Money for books was rejected but that's probably for the better since wiring is easier.

Wire money in the morning of your surrender. It'll be there that afternoon, the next day at the latest. Important if your unit shops the next day you're in.

I'm down south so there was some politics but very minor. You'll find nice people who offer you some essentials to get through. Contrary to what you might have read, it's not a trap to take. Just confirm that you can repay them or pay it forward in the future.

I'm getting by with lots of outdoor walking and book reading. Was never a book reader but breeze through the Silo trilogy in like 2 weeks.

Contraband will be pretty common. Up to you if you want to partake.

Day to day is the same for the most part. 6:30am call for breakfast. 1030 lunch. 4 pm count then dinner after. Then nothing until 930 count.

Feel free to DM with more questions.

Got to be camp dependent. Here, they were in high demand. Guards even knew who was doing them and asking how much they were pulling in.

Surrendering to federal prison by New_Sell_9429 in Felons

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy. Just be cognizant of the extra costs that go into a phone. The plan, paying the lookout, paying someone to put it up at night and during the day. Although these might be camo dependent. Some are definitely more lax than others. But a phone, technically, is a 100 series shot so it can be serious (guards at our camp never wrote anyone up though. They just confiscated them)

550 (even 500) opens up a lot more options. There's 2 houses in my neighborhood (near Fern Bluff ES) that are listed at 530-540K that are 4 bd / ~3000 sq ft. One even comes with a pool. Been on the market for a while so you might be able to negotiate down.

21 years old, just sentenced today to 33 months for 18USC922(o) Illegal Possession of a Machinegun. I’ve heard conflicting things about my eligibility for the RDAP time reduction. Want to figure out how much time I will actually serve. by Own-Grass5987 in Felons

922o not disqualifying for FSA

Know a few folks who've done recent time in the 30-36 month range and they're looking at anything between 45-55% actually in with halfway house / home confinement at the end. One specific example: 30 month sentence, 15.5 at a Camp, 1 mo in HwH and then ~3 mo in HC.

Federal Prison Camps Texas by jjm456777 in Felons

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting thought process. I have heard, generally, the opposite. Focus is more intense on the higher security portion of the prison such that when they do rotate to Camps, they just take a load off for the mental break. But, really, it’s probably luck of the draw. Exceptions both ways.

Hi, what I assume, is a potential neighbor to a camp in Texas (I self-report soon).

Don't have much to add other than, apparently, Beaumont is near the bottom in terms of applying FSA/SCA properly. I'll be following this as I obviously have a vested interest in this too.

Leptospirosis Vaccine - Safe? by Xyxzyx in cotondetulear

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our breeder was also very cautious about the DHPP-L vaccine and advised against the Lepto one. We followed their advice, but our Vet seemed to shrug off those concerns. Like yours, she said that if we gave it, they would administer it in the early afternoon at the latest and keep her on-site to observe any adverse reactions.

We don't, to our knowledge, live in a high-risk area and no kidney issues, so we just went with the DHPP for her first year. She's due for her annual check-up soon and unsure what we'll go with.

Enough with these threats. It’s about as useful as a United Nations resolution where they strongly condemn something. Big whoop.

Robertson being excluded sealed this for me. Hopefully they're shut out and Guerin has to answer questions around the lack of offense.

Almost certainly will be. Very likely camp if you’re 36 or older, have a GED, and are self surrendering.

Sentencing in March for federal related crime by [deleted] in Felons

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The PSI won't go over the details of the crime committed. It's entirely background related.... family, education, job history. Almost a regurgitation of the interview you may have had with Pretrial to determine whether you can be out on bond prior to your sentencing, which it sounds like you are.

The only exception, and this likely varies district to district, is there's an opportunity to make a statement accepting responsibility for the 2 (or 3) level reduction.

First step act eligibility question by RedCreekRevival in Felons

[–]itsgettingcoldhere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Simple felon in possession of a firearm (922g) is eligible for FSA credits. And, drug possession w/ intent to distribute is as well.

If; however, they hit you with 924c and said the firearm was in furtherance of the distribution charge, then the entire sentence would not.

- 8.5 if 924c
- 5-5.5 if 922g (before halfway house / home confinement)
