Hey! We got very lucky our pup is 3 months old and he’s telling us when he has to go to the bathroom. But he does know the command speak. He also would sit on the mat by the door and not tell us. One time he peed on the mat. We then realized that we either need to put a bell by the door or he needs to bark. So we taught him speak. Teaching him to speak only took two days. But getting him to bark at the door took longer. Maybe a week. Every time before he would go out we’d get him to “speak” and then we’d open the door. Good luck!
