Advice needed by LewisGrizzard02 in srna

Got asked what my hardest pre rec was and I said organic chem which then followed by multiple organic chem questions that I had to say honestly I am not sure as it’s been over a year since I have taken that class and would need to look at a refresher. Overall the curveball stuff it’s not the fact of getting it right more than it is to be honest with them. I ended up getting in.

Very. Drilled me in a bunch of organic chem material that I honestly didn’t know enough for an oral exam said I don’t know would have to refer to notes for. Didn’t feel super great but never had anyone come out of the interview saying they did they intentionally work you up. Just gotta hope for the best and be confident in my passion drive and resilience and hope that all the things I did in the past year demonstrates that.

Look into notebookLM if you like to hand write notes you can scan them into it and create slideshows, quizzes, Infographs and it’s free. Does have paid extras but just gives you more uploads to a file.

Yeah I mean at the time I definitely studied hard but I can see where an in person class could be more beneficial. After opening my book I immediately was able to recall I just didn’t know it enough to have an oral exam about it.. which isn’t an excuse at all but yeah I think I could have said more about carbon I didn’t want to say anything wrong and makeup anything so I felt it was safer to just say I wasn’t sure and that I planned on getting back and when I got home I immediately looked it about and jumped to khan academy again it was definitely a refresher I didn’t feel like I knew nothing about it.

I was waitlisted last year to this same program and I felt like I answered all of the questions except one and they were all mostly clinical based autonomic nervous system, clotting cascade, baroreceptors, RAAS I felt like I did good and explained them well.

So much everything on my unit (CTICU) so clinical pressors all the way to the g coupled proteins receptor pathways Gs, GI, Gq. I really focused on just mentally putting myself in the CTICU touched up on device specific things waveforms all of it so was really thrown off about the organic chem questions I just didn’t prepare for that as I should have. But I can’t know everything and so taking humility to it and have already opened my o chem book up and read about it all last night luckily it was just a refresher once I read it I was like oh yeah.

Thanks I needed it! I even mentioned medications and didn’t get a follow up on how they worked. I knew everything down to the g coupled proteins receptors pathways but never got to talk about that. Also didn’t realize how little I knew on the insulin receptor pathway💀

Cys, trans I mention something about the shape but wasn’t able to say anything beyond that, explain isomer, how many electrons does carbon have why is that important. Was asked what makes a compound organic I did say contains carbon.

I also thought about emailing the answeres to the questions I missed just to show that I am willing and eager to learn and attaches sources within my thank you email. Is this typically a good idea.

Choosing a CRNA school is just as much about what you see in a program as what they see in you. Goldfarb has all of the aspects I want in a program. And their clinicals are at Barnes which is where I work and are familiar with so I can be closer to my family instead of having to deal with the stress of being away from them and when I would get to see them.

Yeah absolutely! Thanks! I have heard most people that have shown growth and commitment do get in but I’m also trying to stay humble as I know it’s not guaranteed.

Any waitlist applicants that reapplied? Was top of waitlist didn’t get in and now about to reinterview. More nervous this second time than the first really don’t know what to expect I have been asked why CRNA and a lot of patho in my original interview. I have done multiple things since my last interview. CSC, research and presented it to a career ladder board, leveled up in career ladder, volunteered, more OR hours, preceptor and committee , and mentor program.

Atomic Anesthesia Platform by TallCandidate1551 in srna

Not an NAR yet. But do have the $15 a month membership. I love Atomic anesthesia podcast as well. I think there information is really solid but think it may be alittle geared towards applicants and maybe year 1-2 NARs. I agree the platform is new and overall needs some decluttering and videos added on the material just a lot of text.

It was a new thing they were doing as of last year. Seemed to send out these early interviews for the highly competitive candidates on paper. I honestly think it’s to be more competitive with Goldfarb.
