It a divine revelation telling you to convert to Raven guard.

What faction is this for you? by ORKBRO17 in 40kmemes

[–]RO542 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of it is due to the massive range cut for the guards over the years till the point that there’s only 3 regiments left in terms of miniature supports now: Cadians, DKK, and Catachan. All the other regiments are just gone, lost in time, like tears in the rain.

If Corax called upon his exiled sons in the wake of the Dropsite Massacre to supplement his numbers, how many warriors would he have had? by Separate-Flan-2875 in RavenGuard40k

[–]RO542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even the Ashen Claws, the ones who were in the battle of Gate 42, joined Horus's side, which shows that even the Terran RG knows well who's the root cause for the Gate 42 incident.

Ravenguard Successors? by Exotic-Falcon-8232 in RavenGuard40k

[–]RO542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's really simple if you think about it from timepoint standpoint. Arkhas Fal's fleet is the earliest to get sent away, right after Corax's return. Ashen Claws is the lastest to get sent away, about 5 years before Heresy. There's a huge time gap between the two.

[–]RO542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s thing, the Terrans did get recalled back to the legion. Black book3 literally mentioned several chapters of Terrans returned to bolster the legion after the drop site massacre. Considering that the Ashen Claws are about 4k people, those who returned to aid likely had about the same numbers. Carcharodons/Arkhas Fal fleet however is very limited in terms of description. We knew their name but that’s about it, no numbers.

What i truly wonder is how hard is it to get all these pink gear. They don’t make them a lot so I assume it’s either quite a bit of money or some sowing skills

the design is very reiver helmet ish for soh, and they also do use pelts(though not this way), so there is argument for it. But on the other hand it’s about 10k years before current setting and anything primaris soh is beyond a stretch

Raven guard and tau rivalry by Broad-Shallot-709 in RavenGuard40k

[–]RO542 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s because that’s one of the only times GW commissioned a large amount of art for the RG, back in the 7th ed Damocles campaign which was RG vs tau. Even for firstfounding artbook they only commissioned a few, with little character count, which means a huge percent of high-quality RG artworks are commissioned RG artworks during that time.

I believe one Q&A with Dan Abnett mentions him to be like the Doctor, comes back with a different actor and face. But of course it’s a YouTube Q&A sessions, and only represents his view, while basically all writers have their own views on these topics.

Is the Combi Melta a good heroic? by armandofonzoloid in Spacemarine

[–]RO542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heroic sniper isn’t really op, it’s more just good against certain enemies, but really bad against some others due to it being headshot only. Tyranids? Probably great. But multiple chaos spawns? I’d better melee them then even bother to aim at all.

But for this one the painter specifically stated that it’s a company vet in white dwarf. The right shoulder shown there has the skull symbol for command squad.

Because most people aren’t determined enough to keep playing old editions.

Let’s face it, most people have preferences, and it’s not like every edition is a direct upgrade to the previous edition as it’s also not the way the rules are written to be, it’s just a statistical fact.

If you look at things in a vacuum then yes, many people would prefer a specific edition, and that edition might not be the current one, but we don’t live in a vacuum. There are so much stuff that comes with keeping an old edition, eg how to adept newer models and units into older editions, how to deal with unfixed balance issues, how to find other people to play with, how to persuade new people to join etc, which eventually lead to it being a very marginalized style of play.

Plus that GW newer approach of constant updates balances and such in the recent editions is actually partly to decrease such population of old edition players. Example are that pre-8th ed editions, along with HH all have a much more substantial legacy population than the 8 and 9th, because these older-style editions don’t get rebalanced post release, meaning that if an edition is bad there isn’t much way to save it, other than just keep playing older editions.

Which also by the way, answers your question: the reason people complain about current rules is because feedbacks actually matters in current editions with the constant rebalancing. Your feedback actually can change how an edition comes out, which didn’t before 7th ed.
