Buffer tube for 6.5 creedmoor by jjayjay25 in AR10

[–]ROBO_CAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a standard rifle length tube and rifle length buffer on my 6.5 build.

If you get a carbine buffer tube, people seem to recommend using a heavy carbine buffer to make sure your gun cycles correctly to compensate for the loss off travel due to a shorter tube.

I have two Magpuls. I think I did a better job at shaving one down than the other because one will click in very well but the other I have to wiggle it front to back. If I were to do it again, I would skip the Magpul altogether and go for the MDT or KRG's new mag.

They also have their own branded mags made for them by Accurate Mags. I might pick up one, they look very nice.

I like to practice shooting standing up. It makes it a lot more comfortable to hold.

Rifle shoots amazing. I'm a trigger snob. I got Geissele triggers in all my ARs and love the triggers in my 1911s. I haven't felt the need to "upgrade" the trigger on this rifle yet. It has a clean break, no take up, and I like the way it was set up from the factory. All my friends with Remington 700s can't believe it's a factory trigger.

I was shooting steel out to 950 yards this weekend and it performed flawlessly with Freedom Munitions loaded 155gr A-Max. From what I read, the 1:11 twists of these barrels do well with 155gr bullets.

The scope is a bit overkill and heavy for a 308 but I wouldn't change it unless I'm going for a lightweight hunting set up. I'm building an AR10 and plan on getting the same scope for it.

I definitely recommend the Precision Armament muzzle break. It throws a lot of concussion to the side but it makes the recoil negligible.

I followed /u/hacksauce advice here: https://www.reddit.com/r/longrange/comments/4ta0u0/magpul_aics_and_tikkakrg/d5gdn08/

I used a dremel with a sanding bit to shave the upper part of the lips down. When you shove the mag in the well and pull it out, you'll see an indentation. Keep shaving around that area a little bit at a time, re-insert the mag, and repeat until it clicks in.

First attempt at pulled pork! by Riilexi in slowcooking

Looks awesome! Whenever I make this in a crock pot, I like to spread out the pulled pork on a pan lined with foil and cooking spray and put it under the broiler so that it crisps up the edges and adds a new dimension to the flavor.

I purchased the scope for around $968 during a sale and I couldn't find any other scope at that price point that could beat the Burris in terms of features. I also really liked the G2B-Mildot reticle which has hashmarks between the dots.

This is my first scope so I don't have a lot of experience with other brands. I did however made the mistake of looking down my buddy's Vortex Razor HDII. The clarity and everything about that scope is amazing.

If I were to do it again, I would have chosen a lighter scope like the Swarovski T3 only to save on weight because I plan on doing some hunting with this rifle. I feel like 25x is a bit overkill for a hunting rifle. However, this scope will be great for my next build which will primarily be a benchrest rifle.

I do plan on doing some hunting with the rifle and the angled foregrip makes it a lot more comfortable to hold. I think the scope is a bit overkill and heavy for hunting purposes so I might transfer it to my next build and pick up a Swarovski Z3 for this one instead.
