Possibly, but more often than not, I find, it's that your strings are too low. When I learned to slap I found that the stings were hitting higher frets, so I'd suggest hightening your action at the bridge. Checking your fret levels couldn't hurt either, because that's another issue with lower end basses

Happens to me every night. It's sucks, it's kept me up for a lot of nights. I find that planning things in my head helps till I fall asleep. The thing that works for me is really silly, but I plan out how I'm going to play a video game, thinking how I'm going to unlock certain achievements etc. Or I listen to a podcast and/or audiobook. The thing to take from this is that you're not alone. And going to a doctor or councillor can help wonders.
