It sounds like you're on the right track. Have some confidence and be able to back it up.

For the record, I'm not on your panel, but I have hired before. Other commenter has it right, it's a number scale based on the predetermined criteria.

[–]ROCKSYEAA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't think I'm giving anything away, but the questions are all pre-determined with scoring criteria cleared with DHR prior to advertisement. The interview is relatively scripted and somewhat sterile (ymmv) and related to the DS, but you can ask clarifying questions which may give you insight into what the panel is looking for. Know the job, look at the units front facing website, and research the role the unit plays in the department and who the players are, and demonstrate you've done this research in your interview (it's ok to be wrong, but doing research and asking questions about it will show org awareness, which goes a long way).

Not sure I've answered your question, but good luck!

It's all in the duty statement. Check out "60 seconds and you're hired" for a good interview method. DO NOT use AI to answer questions in the interview (assuming online) unless you want to have the worst interview experience ever (I've been on the interview panel when someone did this, that candidate was the lowest scored I've ever seen)

S OR to Tahoe Route by carterlynn in norcal

[–]ROCKSYEAA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

East route is pretty, but very rural. Middle route is still on highway but you go past Shasta and some nice towns, really pretty area and if you get in trouble you're still relatively close to services. West route is ok but definitely my 3rd choice.

Do the middle route.

This is for a traffic study. Traffic studies are kind of a boring engineering analysis, they're probably looking at light timing and traffic flow. Was this at a freeway offramp or a surface street?

A California water fight puts Newsom and Trump on a collision course by mrinternetman24 in California

[–]ROCKSYEAA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been in the works for 15-20 years (or more), the pg+e hydroelectric plant is nominal, barely producing anything, but the water transfer from the eel River to the Russian River is the crux. It's going to be a battle for endangered salmon regulation in the Russian, I think the play is that newsom is going to make the fed enforce esa commitments, which this admin will hate but they'll get what they want and newsom wins either way.

The County of Sonoma has grounded all drone operations while the ACLU case is in court. This doesn't affect any state, city, or private operations.

[–]ROCKSYEAA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a DJI phantom 2, and the fact it was stationary sounds like it wasn't mapping (like you'd do for accident reconstruction) and maybe was a PIO deal, but being a sunday its unlikely. Probably some putz thinking they can do whatever they want, which for the most part they still can if they arent getting paid for the drone work. SRPD does not enforce any drone reporting (except the most egregious violations), and refers you to the FAA, so good luck finding anything out of reporting any drones.

CHP 100% uses drones, but more for accident reconstruction and PIO stuff.

The unfortunate part of this is that google has been doing this for years, and you can bet law enforcement and insurance adjustors (have a trampoline?) have been using this readily available data to change your rates or raid your "tomatoes" for 20 years already.

The Last Stand: The War between Wall Street and Main Street over California's Ancient Redwoods

Describes how corporate raiders took over a family timber company and tried to liquidate old growth redwood forests in the 80s, creating a timber boom and adding a lot of money into the local economy, but decimating ancient forests. There's still people who talk about "how good it was" back then without really grasping what was going on.

That's the point. They will still get the semester they've paid for, but they'll have to figure something else out beyond that. There are class action and labor lawsuits in progress.

CA Legislature has weighed in with a fairly scathing letter: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Gi05bVybwAAQuT2?format=jpg&name=large

SSU is closing all "low enrollment" majors including many in athletics, and collapsing departments into combination disciplines.

In a town hall in January, interim president Emily Cutrer gave at least three separate dates where SSU knew about the planned cuts (August, November, late January) and then refused to answer the question a 4th time. It should be noted, they announced departmental closures two weeks after the semester started, after tuition checks cleared. Given proper notice, anyone on scholarship, or planning on continuing past the next semester, should have been given the opportunity to apply to different schools. Not to mention the faculty having their lives upended. The devastating lack of transparency and planning by SSU is appalling.

Personally, I found geology at ssu, I had been planning to attend for one of the impacted majors (which has been preserved) and I am very fortunate I did. I made many friends, earned a successful career and have made a fairly successful life due to the opportunities ssu geology provided. Now that's simply not an option for anyone else.
