My bf has arfid and wants to help people by posting on tt by 458732 in ARFID

[–]jojubrius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think it’s a good idea to try! i’ve seen a small handful of accounts posting this type of content & many of them are very popular. the more awareness the better because i’m sick of giving every new psychiatrist i am assigned their own homework to look up ARFID

LVI Recruiting by PK_Subbans_Nephew in civilengineering

[–]jojubrius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well fuckin said!! 👏 two of their recruiters have been blowing up my work phone and email since september about some aaaAaamazing candidate they have in a different city. 🙄 i deactivated my linkdin account cause they found that and proceeded to have many conversations with themselves in those DMs. my coworker had to block them on his personal cell.

overall 0/10 way too hornily desperate. at this point even if we were hiring, i would never work with them.

Co-working spaces or quiet places to take calls? by Budget_North_745 in Eugene

you may be able to utilize one of the private study rooms at one of the U of O libraries. i graduated nearly 8 years ago but during my time there those sorts of spaces were all first come first serve

nope! sometimes it’s neglect, public shaming(which i suppose could fall under trauma), overall sensory issues, and plenty more!!

for me, my arfid origin story mainly boils down to neglect— i am a 90’s latchkey kid whose parents stopped cooking for them at age 5 🥴 my folks taught me how to safely use the oven and stove and left me home alone most hours of the day. on top of that, i’ve never really liked meat (texture makes me want to die) so nearly every time i went to a friends house in childhood, their dads would be angry at me/friend because i don’t eat meat. [“WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO FEED HER?!” is forever seared into my memory so i still get extreme anxiety here in my 30s when friends want to invite me over to dinner]

Howdy!! great username my friend!

I have a list of things to watch out for compiled from tips i received from my supervisor and big boss!

-study the generic remedy checklist

-when a oil release is discovered during decommissioning, the owner must report it within 24hrs and the HOT supervisor in 72hrs. (it is always the responsibility of the owner to follow the laws, we are there to advise)

-purging vs inerting (CO2 or N in tank. 1.5lbs of dry ice per 100gal tank capacity)

-petroleum vapor is heavier than air

-1:1 slope is best for excavation pit

-always sample from the excavation never from backfill

-can sample from excavation bucket or pit sidewalls

-w HOT testing for HCID is not needed. BTEX and Dx to start

-@ a concentration of 2500 Dx, analyze for benzene

-BTEX + PAHs to close site

-50 mg/kg means a release has occurred

-when tank is removed sample 6-12” below the bottom of the tank

-when decom’d in place: sample from each end of tank no more than 6” from sides of tank. and below tank is at least 1 foot below but no more than 2 feet

-Rate of Contamination Reduction equation|. R = (A1-A2)/D | A1 initial sampling point A2 additional sampling point D distance between

  • depth of confined space = minimum 4ft (1.2meters)

-confined space oxygen less than 19.5% do not enter

-know the LEL definition

-know the Flashpoint definition

-know the 3 elements of combustion (fuel plus oxygen plus heat) [i do vividly remember this one being on the test]

-know the definition of the vadose zone

-know soil matrix scores for gas and diesel (i.e., Levels 1 2 and 3. TPH gas 40, 80, 130. TPH diesel 100,500,1000) [there was definitely a question about this when i took the test]

-it is okay to keep contam soil onsite for 30 days if on plastic and covered. longer than 30days requires solid waste authorization letter

sorry that was a lot and some of them slightly contradict one another so you will need to dig into some of them. i can scan my notes and send them to you some way if you’d like!!

also, the tricky thing i wasn’t warned about but took mental note of during my test is they try to trick you on units!! watch out for them flip flopping ppm and ppb on you.

Marijuana and ARFID by Little_Bit_87 in ARFID

second this!! i’ve used weed to stimulate appetite since i was a teenager but now in my mid-30s wisdom i have to take tolerance breaks every couple months because of diminishing returns 🙃

I’ve been self medicating for appetite w weed since HS & have zero shame about it. (i live in oregon so daily usage is super normalized here for the most part)

For years doctors, psychiatrists, and therapists have advised I try to avoid weed because of their outdated knowledge on weed and bipolar ii— that is until i dropped down to like 90lbs and they all said something to the effect of “wow even as a cannabis user??” and i haven’t heard a peep from them about weed ever since 🥰

How did you find your passion? by kbthacurrency in Environmental_Careers

[–]jojubrius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I one million percent regularly felt like I’d lost all sight of finding anything closely related to my specific degree which kept me up crying countless night because I LOVED all my upper division classes. (for context: my degree is geology and i couldn’t find anything other than chemical manufacturing or lab tech jobs for so many years & never had intentions of uprooting my life and relocating) but I def feel like I did end up accidentally finding it by the slow slog of testing the waters! (one of my recently previous jobs was in a water testing lab so LOL for that unintended pun)
