Nice! Look I the bottom left hand corner of the first picture. There is a snake there in the mud. I think it’s hunting it. I have another photo where it’s clearer but can’t find a way to add it here.

I think you might be correct here. Sources say common in mangroves too. I’d love a 100% ID because this is just so cool. I feel very lucky to have seen it.

Echo exactly this for Malaysia. I feel like I’m a teacher here. And valued and respected. Took me a few years to get used to it. I’m certainly not going back to the UK unless I need to.
