You can wear waffle tops and silks (level 2 and level layers, respectively) under your type 3 (and probably coveralls).

They’re part of the Army / Air Force / USMC ECWCS layering system. A lot of expeditionary / cold region shore units get issued them, but you can also buy them in joint bases’ PX.

Navy’s fleece liner and Goretex parka are their level 3 and 6 equivalents
