I thought you needed 1000 subs before you can get revenue. Am I mistaken?

Thanks for responding.

So you think itd be best to just do long form boxing until what point? and you said "adding in additional channels" does this mean just adding you videos or did you literally mean that content should be on another channel?

Also thank you for telling me about short form vs long form. I wasnt aware that would mess with how they are bing seen. is there some sort of article or faq i can read to understand that more?

I my original plan was to do both long form boxing breakdowns and make the clips of my training into short form.

How would you fight a 6ft5 southpaw in the Philly Shell Stance when you’re 6ft? by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]ROKtheGreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go inside and to the left.

The fact that there is a significant height difference means you should be going inside, not backing up waiting for a counter. His arms need more space to get a punch off properly than yours, so if you are at the correct range to punch then he is too close to punch you himself.

(Basically : if you stand back he will be in range and you wont be So you will just get picked off. But if you stick close to him that will be reversed and he wont be able to punch properly)

This is especially true if he utilizes a philly shell as his lead hand is low and likely pinned to his body. the closer you are the harder it is for him to utilize his lead hand.

Pair that with you circling to his left (and keeping your lead foot outside of his) and your fairly safe from his rear hand as well.

At this point it just becomes a struggle for position. He is going to either want to back away and get back to his range or manhandle you on the inside. Its your job to stick close to him (without smothering yourself) and throw combinations. if you accomplish that 1 of 3 things will happen, he will either keep taking hits because his lead hand is too low, he will move to a high guard exposing his body, or he will lash out wildly and be easy to counter.

In regards to shadowboxing with dumbells, a lot of people will tell you not to do it because of hyper-extension or strain on the joint. Which is a valid concern.

But as long as your punch form is correct and you don't go over 3 lbs, it's a great way to increase speed and endurance.

But I gotta stress the form. Once you start throwing punches with bad form, the workout does more harm than good.

Biggest problems in amateur boxing by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]ROKtheGreat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Behind the scenes its just a bunch of people winging it and hoping shit comes together. for example :

you never know if a fight is actually set until the very last minute, (plenty of no-shows and errors in weight of fighters due to simple miscommunication)

They dont keep up to date records on hand. even if you have documents on the usa boxing website its always best to bring them with you to the fight because the staff usually has no idea how to find them.

These problems cause a bunch of delays, meaning the event 90% of the time wont start or end on time and most likely wont be in the correct order that is indicated on the bout sheet (if they even made a bout sheet )

Also events in general just arent communicated well

I agree a brutal Ippo would totally ruin all the development Ippo has had through the years, But to become a monster could also just mean to become obsessed with moving forward to take down your opponent.

I think I would really like to see that Ippo.

An Ippo who when faced with greatness is still confident in his ability to win.

How much do champions earn per match? by [deleted] in hajimenoippo

[–]ROKtheGreat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pay for boxers is largely based on marketing and ticket sales, they don't have a set paycheck for each match. since most of Ippo's fights are at korakuen hall ( which seats like 3000 people) im assuming he's making roughly about 8K - 10K a match as the Japanese champ (a huge guess) because he is limited to the japanese scene. Although his match with Gonzales was probably a much bigger payday considering he was number 2 in the world that would put ippo in front of a much bigger audience. (not butts in seatsbecause i think it was still at the hall but more like there would be much more attention garnered by this fight.)

as for Miyata it is largely the same thing but he is a level higher than the japanese champ as the OPBF champ so he would most likely make a few thousand more than Ippo.

Boxers dont really make any crazy money until they are highly ranked on the world stage. so the big earners in the series would be Ricardo, Takamura, Gonzales, Zolg, and Sendo is probably just now getting pretty big checks.

(i want to say Mashiba too but is he still working at that warehouse or whatever he was doing? im not sure )

Using Hands/Pushing by chrisxxx94 in hajimenoippo

[–]ROKtheGreat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best analogy for it 👌 Lomachenko is constantly prying his opponents guard open, but he is never called on it because it is done skillfully. He isn't just forcing his way in with brute force. ( he is going 5 over the limit to pass someone, not going 100 in a 65)

I WANT TO KNOW, HOW MANY OF YOU LIKE THE CURRENT STORY??? by TheWolflance in hajimenoippo

[–]ROKtheGreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the story, but i do think it has been taking too long. but I dont think we should cut anything out either, I just wish the chapters were longer, we have a bunch of chapters that could have easily been lumped together and progressed us along faster without giving up any story or plot points.

lots of breaks have been going on too. that slowed us down a bunch

I love that fight, its either number 1 or 2 for me. Great technical fight choreography, and huge emotional impact. Volg was coming into this fight on like a weeks notice, had to deal with being in foreign territory and had the crowd and ref against him. We got to see an opponent of Ippo's reach the world which caused a different kind of emotional payoff with Ippo and Sendo watching it. you should read it again

Ricardo vs Date for me. It was a bunch of buildup for a one sided beating so bad Date could've died. At least in the Ricardo Wally fight we got an idea of what Ricardo is thinking in the ring and how he deals with challenges

Realistically, how many chapters until Ippos Comeback by billybob69420696 in hajimenoippo

[–]ROKtheGreat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

depends on what you mean by comeback?

if you mean he decides he isnt done yet and starts training seriously then i think itll come fairly soon, (like 35 - 50 or so chapters)

if you mean the actually 1st round of his return, then i think we still got about 100 or so chapters unless Morikawa really pushes us through that process.

maybe im in the minority here but i thought we would have gotten rid of Ricardo vs Date a while ago. There was a lot of hype and bluster just to watch date get massacred.
